I took my female friend out to lunch yesterday at a new restaurant I haven't been to. Since the restaurant is in an unfamiliar part of town, I got lost and drove around for a bit before finding the place. While we were driving around, we joked about how if it were a date, she'd jumped out and call a taxi cause she wouldn't have her date in a car.
Anyhow, to make the long story short, my friend and I ended up debating about what women think about men who don't have a good sense of direction. She was saying that the idea of a man not knowing about his town, surrounding, and driving direction would totally turn her off. While I was counter arguing, I couldn't help but to think what she say may be true.
So ladies and gentlemen, what do you think about men who don't know their direction? Is it a glaring fault for a man to be unfamiliar with the places he's driving to?

Yes! It's a turn off cause a man should know where he's going and lead

No because finding places can be difficult and I can get lost just as easily!

It doesn't matter if he has a good sense of direction or not

I honestly don't think a sense of direction has ever played a role in my attraction to men! Well, unless it's because he's dumb and uninformed and couldn't care less in general. It has an indirect effect.

Lol I have THE worst sense of direction ever and I don't have any room to judge anybody else's on theirs lol. Also getting lost helps you discover new places and could make a date more spontaneous and fun!

Question Asker At least some people have realistic expectation, or I should say reasonable. If you can't do something yourself, you shouldn't expect others to do it. My friend is another story. She argues that it is because I am a MAN, thus I MUST know my directions. I guess she's caught up in roles? As for her, she's sooo good with directions that she drove us off road and into a bush last time! Any idea why some women are demanding this way? - 9 months ago
Answerer It could be the way that they are raised. They could've been taught to rely entirely on guys because "the men do everything". I was raised that way but realized my family is old fashioned and ignorant. I'm a jet engine mechanic lol technically that would be considered a guy's job but I enjoy it. I realize that guys are just as human as girls and we have the same potential and capabilities, as well as strengths and weaknesses because we're human. A lot of people fail to realize this. - 9 months ago

Use MapQwest or have cell phone or by GPS, and most of the time I don't let the ladies pick the restaurants, I am horrible with directions blame the dope, but yeah sometimes it sucks

Some women love to go on road trips and get totally lost along the way. Finding the way back is half of the fun. So I imagine other women might be upset that a man doesn't know how to navigate very well. To each their own.

I agree with ionlife. If you are going some place new, at least look up the directions beforehand. Then if you get lost, you can blame it on the directions! At least you'll present yourself and putting forth the effort to plan ahead. I think that is what your friend is more upset about, or arguing about. She wants to be with someone who is a planner.

Question Asker I did plan ahead like 20 steps in a chess match :)
I already had the day, time, place, and every detail as of how we were going to have lunch. It was just that the restaurant was in downtown with lots of little streets and little turns. I don't think that my friend was upset. We were just debating about the subject.
But I'll keep in mind the idea of road trip. - 9 months ago

Depends you can make a car ride fun enough to distract her from the fact that your lost then it does not matter lol

Question Asker That's why it's good to have tons of CDs in your cars. Just hope she'll be distracted enough with changing them. But over time, even the dullest girl will notice that you've been driving around in circles. You gotta come up with a new strategy - 9 months ago
Answerer Lol tell her its a surprise where your taking her that way its a lot easier or tell her to put a blindfold on because you don't want her to guess where your going that way she won't even know where she is kinda cruel but its a good idea - 9 months ago

Are you saying that having a GPS during my younger years would have helped me with the ladies? :)

Perhaps this was valid in the good old west when we were riding horses but these days we tend to build communities, roads and divisions faster than most ant colonies so I don't think it is feasible for a guy to know his entire surroundings anymore. You ought to have a decent understanding of the major parts of town but for all other occasions there is a good old fashioned map or GPS system.

P. S. If you are heading into an unknown part of town to a restaurant then you should at least lookup the directions or whereabouts on Yahoo or Google maps. Memorize it and then impress her with your manly driving instincts. :)

Question Asker We often decide where we want to go while we are already on the road. Looking up on google while driving without playing bumper car is a bit challenging for me :)
And if I tried to memorize every part of Los Angeles, a huge metropolitan city, I'd be done by next life time. I don't know, my female friends are just cookoo sometimes. They expect me to know the exact location of every place, yet they don't know it themselves lol - 9 months ago
Question Asker And how did you get around without a GPS? Did you have to use the direction of the sun and stars like me? ;) Or did you do the unthinkable--*sarcasm* ask for directions?!
I do trust my manly instinct of directions. But it's wrong sometimes, so I tried letting my female friend use her women's intuitive instinct. It turns out that her instincts drove us right into a bush! Now y'all know why I am the one always driving - 9 months ago
Answerer You should get an iPhone. Not only will you have a sexy phone to impress her with but when you pull it out, the iPhone that is, and call up Google Maps she'll quickly change her mind and tell you to lookup the nearest hotel.

As for directions, I am proud to say that I have never asked for directions myself. I always send the girlfriend to ask so that if we still can't find the place or we are late, I can shift the blame to her comprehension skills. :) - 9 months ago
Question Asker LOL you just gave me a nice advertisement idea for the IPod company
"I always send the girlfriend to ask. I can shift the blame to her " Now that's what I'm talking about. If I, as a man, can't find my way, it is HER job as a woman to ask for direction for us. I don't really ask either, I'd rather drive around first then send her to ask. We got interesting responses from the guys. I wonder what the girls will say about their role in driving and asking for direction. - 9 months ago
