Gosh, all that dating and relationships stuff. Let's go for a change, shall we? ;p

We all have dreams, don't we? Stuff we'd like to do or accomplish, big (ambitious?) goals that sit in the back of our minds. Something you KNOW will bring you happiness and fulfillment in life, if you dare to follow it wholeheartedly.

So here's my question:

What is your biggest dream or goal? What's your purpose? What's your mission in life?

I want to be a famous author. I want to write young adult novels and have most, if not all my books be #1 bestsellers.

I don't care if I never reach the heights J.K.Rowling achieved with harry potter, I would be more than content with a much smaller fan base, who eagerly await each new book I write. I would love to be like Richelle-Meed, or Maria V. Snyder.

Famous, yet, not overly famous authors.

Question Asker Oohh... A history teacher. :)

To be honest, I absolutely hated history when I was in high school XD. Probably the way they taught it, though... They made it sound so boring. There was nothing that really pulled me in, so to say. So there's a tip for you ;p.

What's your favourite time period? ;p - 29 days ago
Answerer I know a lot about past wars. My specialty is WW2. so 1931-1945 I'm good with - 28 days ago
Question Asker Bleh... I don't really like wars too much. It's too depressing for me... This actually reminds me of one girl I knew at my last school who absolutely loved learning about the wars during history lessons.. I never looked at her the same way again O_o

So are you planning to take over the world or something? - 20 days ago

Anyhow.

So you'e going to medical school now? :) - A month ago

i like the way firemedic sounds too =] - 28 days ago
Question Asker Hey, look at it the positive way: if the end of the world IS coming in 2012, then you'd have plenty of work ;p (I won't be holding my breath, though...)

But yeah... Fire medic. Almost like a movie title. YOU COULD BE PLAYED BY ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER!!! ;) - 20 days ago

I want to be one of those people in power suits who make big decisions that can change the world. A high executive with a briefcase full of documents and business proposals that I've reviewed and plan to hold meetings on discussing the relevant issues concerning each one.

I want to effect the world in a fiscal approach that affects it in a holistically beneficial way.

Question Asker That's really ambitious, and very necessary, I think. We definately need more people like you.

I'm curious, though, since to me, your answer seemed a little bit abstract also. So what I'd like to know also is this (just being curious, no worries ;p): wWhat are you thinking about? What would you really like to change about the world right now? - A month ago

well to answer ur q id like to become a counsellor and/or weight watchers leader. Oh defo here in the west-want to look after my own first! looking well, being independent, focusing on career instead of kids and good relationships make me feel happier so that's why I put them down!:D Career wise its law not 100% sure about it but just want to go up the career ladder right now!im only 22 so that's what I want right now. And you're going to be a lawyer also? Dayum... I better behave XD

Still... I'd say those things are mission-y enough. There's no need for grandiose world-changing plans. As long as they feel right to you, and you really REALLY want to do them, then is there any doubt about it being your purpose? ;) - A month ago

My dreams are:
1. Write a novel
2. Travel the world
3. Settle down with a quirky/arty guy in late 20s/30s but still have my own separate life with my own hobbies, friends, job, money etc. (dont want kids or marriage though!)
4. Do well in my career and make lots of money. Be independent and never rely on anyone for money once I'm making money. Do my own thing and don't look to other people for inspiration. I want to be my own inspiration and postive force in my life. To always have a goal and work hard.
5. Be more spiritual and try to be a better person. Do more mediation. I want to help women through voluntary organisations eventually because I think women have it tough in life a lot. Its still a mans world so women still need to be empowered.
6. Get a super-toned body through yoga, pilates, cardio, diet etc. And keep myself looking hot even when I'm like 50, 60 etc.

They are my main goals. I want more but if I got these ones, I would be super-duper happy! :D I really like the idea of the bucket list that love guru said as well. Think I might try it.

Question Asker Oooh. That's interesting. Never really met much people who didn't want to marry or children.. HELL, that ain't about what I really want to ask, so here we go:
What IS your "own thing"? Here you are telling me about a cute quirky guy and your sexy body and stuff, but what do you really want to do? >.<

And hooh... Women's empowerment, huh? As in the middle east and stuff? Or just right here in the west? - A month ago

My biggest dream (I have a "bucket list"- I got the idea from the movie) involves travelling to as many different countries as possible. Growing up, my family visited almost every US state (I'm missing Alaska, Florida, Washington, and maybe 2 southern states). My grandparents have been all over, and the stories they bring home are just amazing. I think experiencing the world like that makes you a better person.

As far as goals, I'd like to graduate with my BA in Psychology, then get my masters and becoming a MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist). That's why I love this site so much! I truly enjoy helping other people.

Well, I want to graduate from college ON TIME with my English degree, which I am currently working on (year and a half to go!). I would like to find a temporary job as I work on my PhD for English studies so that I can become a professor at any university of my choice.

I would also love to lose the weight I have on me. I've lost 30 pounds and I have a LOT more to go, but I've set up mini goals for each year and I'm hoping to reach my goal by 2010 :)

After I get my weight together and school is done for the year, I would love to get a damn boyfriend. I've never had one and it sucks to be 21 and not have your first anything yet. I attribute that to my weight/being a self-conscious person for most of my life, but I've broken out of my shell and want to get out there, haha.

I would also love to get the balls to cut my hair. I've been wanting to cut my hair for a while now and I can't seem to pull it together enough to do so, but I'm gonna try and work it out by next year :)

Those are pretty much my goals.

Question Asker Ahh... So you're going to be an english professor. Sounds chic. ^^ I can already imagine you raving on about Shakespeare and all that good stuff. ;p

As long as you're gonna be one of them silly and quirky teachers, I think you'll be awesome. Else you'll be boring ;p

Anyhow, good luck with the weight stuffs (daammn you're motivated XD) and the quest for a boyfriend. I'm sure you're gonna be one of them folks who are going to end up old and happy. :) - A month ago
the-love-guru When it comes to chopping hair, I'm somewhat of an expert. Just to it on a whim. Remember (and repeat to yourself immediately afterwards) "hair grows!". I've hacked off 10+ inches on multiples occasions, and let me tell you... it completely changes your look. People will notice you, and it will give you a confidence boost. You can always grow it back. That's what I'm doing. Lather, rinse, repeat! ;) - A month ago
Answerer Thanks for the support and advice. I'm definitely gonna be a quirky professor because I'm a quirky person. Believe me, I know what it's like to be sitting through those snooze fest lectures and I'm NOT trying to do that. I want my students to be awakened by Chopin, Baldwin, and, yes, Shakespeare :) I want to revive that imagination we all had when we were younger and reading all those books, getting ourselves all wrapped up in the words! Ahh...excitement! lol - A month ago
Answerer And yes, hair does grow back, but it's just so hard to watch it go, lol. I've had the same boring hair for 21 years and I'm scared that if I change it boring hair might turn into crazy hair. Then I'll have to buy this horrid wig and wear it for months until my hair grows back to an acceptable length haha. - A month ago
Question Asker WE DEMAND A PICTURE!! :-P

And yeeees! Quirky teachers are the best. I had several during my years in high school, and EVERYONE liked their lessons, even the rough "cool" folks who normally didn't give a crap about school ^^ SO YOU GO, WOMAN!!!

I dream to be a health fitness instructor. I want to help people who want to be fit and healthy achieve their goal. I will have a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from helping them. I'm working towards this right now.

I dream to bagpack travel around the world to understand other cultures and traditions. I want to take pictures of all their way of living, their little episodes of happiness. Basically "O Brave New World".

I dream (definitely) want to join welfare organizations to help the unforunates and others. By giving love with no terms and condition and know that I can receive love in return gives me a some sort of happiness.

I want to be able to provide the best for my parents. This is the purpose and mission of every child. They have sweat blood and tears for us since young and it is our duty to provide the best for them when they need us as they grow old.

The other, near impossible dream, is to remove all politics among my closest friends. I hate to see them cry, sad and all. But yeah, its so impossible :/

Why not start building on your "impossible" dream now? Maybe you CAN do something about it all. As long as you don't ruin friendships and stuff... that'd just be sad :(

Question Asker And what change would that be? (darned mysterious folks! ;p) - A month ago
Answerer Haha, there are a lot of things in the world that could stand to be changed, that's why I left it so broad. - A month ago
Question Asker Yeah.. But you can't change anything, dearie... :(

I'd like to do lots and lots of things myself, but even I can't do everything... And wow, do I sound conceited... srry bout that, folks!
So why not focus on one goal and at the same time get together with people who want to do something for the world also? It'll be like a support group for AWESOME folks who want to change the world...

So there...

Anyhow...
What if you could change ONE thing in the world? What would YOU focus on? :) - A month ago
Answerer Society wouldn't be where it is today if things didn't change. I think starting a support group for people with similar beliefs gets you nowhere, you're just preaching to the choir that way. Look at the civil rights movement and women's suffrage--those weren't support groups, and they brought about change.

When people witness someone doing the right thing, I think it makes an impact on them. So, to me, doing the right thing means being the change you want to see in the world. - A month ago
Question Asker Well... I guess I didn't make myself all too clear there... Oh well...

Good luck, then. I hope you can cause the "change you want to see in the world". - A month ago
Answerer No, you were clear, we just don't see things the same way lol - A month ago
Question Asker Seriously, mate, I don't think I WAS clear...

Paraphrase what I tried to say, please. I really don't care for this misunderstanding too much, but I would like to be as clear as I can. So tell me: what do you think I was trying to say? ;p

On a similar note, your point of view definately IS interesting. How exactly would you change the world by simply "being" a certain way? I don't really see how not acting to achieve, but instead "just being a certain way" can somehow change the world... - A month ago
Answerer "Be the change you want to see in the world" is just a quote from Gandhi. I don't expect to actually change the world, I don't think anyone can do that, but that doesn't mean a person can't make a difference through their individual actions. It's like the whole concept of paying it forward--you do something for someone else, so they do something for someone else, then that person does something for someone else, etc. Movements don't start off as movements, they become them. - A month ago
Question Asker I know where the quote comes from. XD

I'm not sure about it being impossible to change the "world"... It'd be damned hard, that's for sure XD

But you know what? I definately hope it works this way... Hey, just wondering. Have you heard of this site? http://dailychallenge.org/
You should definately visit it. It fits right in with your philosophy and offers great "daily challenges" - i.e. good deeds. I've subscribed to the site myself too ^^

Anyhow: good luck and change the world for me ;)

Something I wrote on my MySpace awhile back about what I want to accomplish

I want to open my own care home for elderly people , a place where they can come and feel safe and get the best care around.
I want to publish my own book , I love to write and I think its something that I'm good at.
I want to have a family , I love children and would have as many as god gives me.
I want to travel the world and learn other peoples cultures , and not be so narrow minded.
I want to learn how to cook. I can't live off micro meals all my life!
I want to feel happy within myself , I don't want to keep worrying about how I look or my weight , I'm going to learn...If I want to eat it...I can.
and most important...I just want to be happy :]

The thing I would most love to do in life is something called spacediving. It's sky diving from the edge of space. Imagine taking a two-and-a-half hour balloon ride up into the stratosphere, outfitted with the latest survival gear (still in development), jumping out into the void at up to 130,000 feet (40,000 meters, approx 20 miles), and exceeding the speed of sound during the fall. Just telling you all about it gives me goose bumps (literally).

Ever since I could talk I've always been infatuated with sky diving. I performed my first jump on my 18th birthday as a gift from my grandparents and have performed over 100 jumps since then (at 21 and self financed that’s quite an achievement). I'm prepared to spend my life saving up the millions of dollars it will cost just to experience those few minutes of shear heaven.

Now for the twist that will make everyone think I’m nuts if they already don't. This is how I'm going to die. When I reach the point in my life where I can no longer appreciate thing, due to illness or old age, I'm going to perform this jump, without a parachute. I can’t think of a better way to die.

MY opinion, not yours.
Cheers.

Question Asker Damn, that sounds too cool...

I've yet to skydive myself, but the idea of spacediving makes my heart race with excitement. That would just be too awesome to be true... I WANNA DO IT >.<

But man, you're a die-hard... Literally, I guess... Dying by skydiving? O_o Just the idea makes the hair on my neck stand up... I'd be scared sh*tless if I were to do that...
Is it even possible? As in legal? - 29 days ago
Answerer I don?t think there are any laws prohibiting it but I doubt any skydiving organizations want someone soiling their track record with a death. I would jump with a parachute dragging the final minutes out as long as possible.
Answerer You go into a dive until you break the sound barrier, release your stabilization shoot to slow the decent enough to avoid snapping your neck when you pull the main parachute. Enjoy the scenery while descending 40,000ft before cutting away the parachute and plummeting another 40,000ft to a quick and painless death. 8-10 minutes of sheer heaven before the end. - 28 days ago
Answerer Oh, and spacediving has never been done before. There is a group of individuals currently trying to raise the multiple millions it will cost to achieve this feat. The survival gear is still being developed as well, but I?m in no rush. I've got plenty of time for this ?sport? to develop. I don't plan on dieing any time soon.
Question Asker Yeah... That falling to death thing could prove be a problem... XD

I'd say good luck, I'm not getting near any of it. Getting goose bumps by just even thinking about it.

Thanks about the heads up on that space diving thing, though. Sounds majorly interesting, so I'll be watching it and holding my breath out of sheer excitement (well, not really, I'd die, but you know what I mean...). - 20 days ago

I have a lot of goals, dreams, and aspirations in life, however my biggest and greatest is somewhat difficult to say, I think I have three that are tied for the position and entertwined.

I hope to become a successful psychologist and during that work on my schooling to become a psychiatrist, because my over all greatest dream/goal/mission in life is to improve the conditions of life of those I meet, interact with, surround myself with, and everyone I possibly can. I want to leave this world knowing I helped as many people as I could become better people, and that they all feel better about themselves and have less problems in their lives.

Another of my goals (not in any particular order of importance for these goals I feel as though they are but one for me) is to marry a woman both to help with my own feelings of incompleteness, longing to help, comfort love, care, romance, and all around help someone feel better and in turn feel better by them. Also, beyond doing what I can to make her feel as though I make her life better, and her making my life more enjoyable, I'd also like children which ties into this next goal.

Children, ever since I've stopped having unexplainable feelings anger and bitterness toward children that I used to feel up until high school when someone touched my life and helped change me for the better; I have wanted to have at least two children of my own to pass on what I know and feel to offspring that I'd hopefully raise with a loving wife would some day grow into good people that would continue to try to brighten the lives of people that may not have been so fortunate as to have had any happiness, guidance, and such in their lives.
Along with having at least two children of my own and trying to give them better lives than what I've had, I would also like to adopt a young girl who's been abused sexually, and or physically and show her not everyone in this world will harm her and that there is beauty and things worth living for in this world while hopefully giving her a better life than she'd otherwise have had in an orphanage or other place less warm and becoming of a loving home that accepts her and tries to help her.

So anyways, I hope that I've answered your question as best I can. May I ask what you the same that you asked us?

Question Asker Was that a good answer? Hell yeah! Why not tell your life's story while you're at it XD
And you know what? I can really see myself in your story.

Helping people and all that stuff, that's what I'm about. Making a difference. Getting people's life on their OWN track. That's what I'm living for. (that's why I'm here on this site ;p)
As for career, I'd either do some research on the human mind, or help thrust ourselves further in the future with AI. And I'd Also like to teach aikido ;p So there ^^ - A month ago
Answerer >_< Thanks, and my life story isn't all that great to hear I don't think =?
OOO, very interesting, I kind of got the impression from reading your replies to other people, checking your profile and even going to your blog that you seemed like an intelligent, motivated and kind person, that's why I sent you the friend invite I did. If it's not too much of a trouble to yourself would you like sending some messages back and forth to know each other a bit better?
Question Asker Thanks... People say that sometimes, yeah... And to tell you a secret: it makes me feel like a badass ;p

And sure, I'm fine with that... Bring it on with all the messaging! ^^ - 29 days ago

I have a huge itch to live in a foreign country. There are lots of obstacles: money, not having my parents or siblings near, visas, and more. But to me it would be grand; it saddens me that so many dig a hole for a grave not a stone's throw from where they were born.

Question Asker Well... "Simply happy in the dapperstraat", as they say sometimes...

But yeah... It'd be awsome to live in another country for a bit (though I don't really think I'd go on very long without my family and friends over here), so bleh.. Who knows.

Anyhow... Any idea where you'd like to live? - A month ago
Answerer For me, it's Germany, but even better would be living in multiple countries in succession. Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan are high on the list, as well as most of Europe. - A month ago
Question Asker Ahh, that is so cool... I know some folks in South Korea, and it sounds like it's an amazingly awesome place...

Did you know you could teach simple stuff like english in those kinds of countries? Apparently, you don't need much in order to teach there, especially if you're from an english speaking country yourself (they like natives, apparently)..

How's that for an idea? :) You could travel the world living and teaching in all kinds of places. Making a living out of country-hopping! - A month ago

Question Asker And I wish you great luck with that! *high five*... ...or *handshake*... Whatever floats your boat...

Have you got any idea on who "the one" is? :o - A month ago
Answerer I wish I did, man. It would make it so much easier- - A month ago
Question Asker Weell... I'd say it's time to go and look for her yourself then, innit, mate?

If she won't come to you... Why not go looking for her yourself? ;p - A month ago

To become a successful programmer or server manager. Or something in the IT field. I would also help anyone who needs it and wants it alone the way. I will teach but I will not do everything. And if I shall find a women somewhere in there, then so be it.

So um, to be successful and to help out people who want and deserve it.

Question Asker Oooh! A fellow nerd XD.

So you're into programming? You can help me if I get stuck in my programming stuffs ;p
But what're you gonna use it for? I've never really understood what IT was (shh, don't tell anyone O_o). It's got something to do with administrative stuff, right? - A month ago
Answerer I think IT just explains the technical field based on computers. I'm not really sure what it means either. And yes, I am a nerd :) I'm learning C++ and IRC scripting. But with school it's hard to get free time. IRC to make it easier, shortcuts :D And C++ because it will come in handy and I always wanted to make a program. I know html and dhtml some CSS. - A month ago
Question Asker I CAN DO C++ TOO!!! XD XD XD

As for the rest: I have no idea what you said. WflopTML... I don't know, man ;p I'm glad there're people like you who DO know these things... Gosh... XD

So what kind of stuffs will you be going to do later, when you're done with school? Server managing? Or something ambitious? Like programming the Death Star or whatever? :) - A month ago
Answerer I will probably go to College, to learn more. I want to major in Computer science and minor in psychology. Programming, or security(servers/networks) is what interests me. - A month ago
Question Asker You know what? That vaguely sounds like artificial intelligence, to me... Psychology and computer science (and guess what? I'm actually studying that XD).

Any idea on what kind of psychology you'd like to do though? - A month ago
Answerer Lol, AI. I would have to learn engineering then to make the robot work :S
I like communication and social psychology. Like how people communicate, and mainly youth as that is who I deal with most. I also study to improve myself. The mind and the way people act interests me.
Question Asker Oh, man. If I were gay, you'd be my soulmate lol XD

Your interests are the same as mine, mate... What a coincidence XD

Anyhow... Not to be nitpicking, but you know AI isn't just about robots, do you? ;p

And just because I'm curious (again... I never get tired of it ^^...) what would do you actually do with the knowledge on all that stuff? Would you do anything with the youth? - A month ago
Answerer Lol xP

Yeah, it's like programs that can think for themselves. That's about all I know x)

I want to invent something that is revolutionary. Lol, I dreamed once how to secure a network 100%, can you tell I'm a nerd? I think it might work... Has to head with light.
Um, I would just like to be the guy that manages everything. I like being in charge and am a leader. And will teach along the way.
I never thought about the youth. Maybe teach programming with fun concepts rather than text books - A month ago
Question Asker Oooh... Somebody with ambition *thumbs up*

Hey, if you were to develop something that secures something 100%, can I get one for free? ;p
Just kidding, of course (or am I? ;p).
But you know what? That entire teaching thing looks about right to me. You sound REALLY passionate about programming, so I bet that your lessons would be great however you were to do things ;p - 20 days ago
