I think about the future all the time. I don't really know how I'm supposed to get from where I am now to where I want to be after I graduate, it seems like it's so far away. I do take things day by day in order to get me to that point, but I'm always thinking towards the future.
Quite a bit right now, as I graduate with my M.A. next year and I'm on the cusp of a huge transition from student to actual adult. Yes, I know, at 25 I'm already an adult, but as my professors say, many of us go through "arrested development" as we're students so long.
I used to worry about everything, though, and I have learned to make myself adopt the mindset that everything will take care of itself somehow. It's lowered my stress level, and everything does usually work out somehow.
i can't keep my mind in the present. it's constantly wandering out into the future, where I'm planning courses for next semester or for the summer, I'm planning when I'm going to apply to transfer, what jobs I'm going to be able to find after this holiday season (i've just got a seasonal job at Pier 1) and what job I'm going to be able to get in Italy in a year or so. and the trip I'm planning to Scotland in the not so distant future as well as my possible free trip to Israel. you'll never find me in the now.
I don't worry about the future, but I definitely wonder about it. It's weird to think of yourself when you have kids or a husband, what you're going to do after college, how you're going to be when you're old etc. It's really interesting to think about the future and if you didn't you wouldn't have all your hopes and dreams. However, I think it is important to take every day as it comes and be happy that you're here on this earth and that it could all be over tomorrow. x
