Do you believe most of the people on here about their age and or their pictures? I have run into two people just this week that have admitted to me about being untruthful about one or both of these things? If you lie why?
My age is correct and that's really me in my pics. You can usually tell who's lying about their age by what they write so I don't think it's too big of a deal. And if it's good advice who cares how old the person is anyway?
Some yes, others no. But I've seen some users on here state their age as being 16, but the photo tells another story. Or, they're sixteen, list their birthdate as being younger than said age, or are preggers!
My info is accurate. But most people, I would say put falsified info. This could be because they want to appear over 18 so they can ask sexual questions, or might have thought that there was a age limit cut off for the sexuality section of the site and wanted to maintain access. There is paranoia that there are creeps and pedophiles on the internet, and some people don't want to put personal info for everyone to read. The internet gives some people an alternative life to live. You can be anyone you want to be on the internet, at least portray something that is not true. And some people try to scam others with a crap story, etc.
These are all of the reasons I can think of. And yes, some do post fake photos to get attention, even though they know the people aren't "complimenting" their real photos/body, but in their reality they take the compliment. Or, to possibly be more convincing of their story or age on the internet.
Age: they're justifiably concerned that they will be blown off. Pic: they are insecure about looks.
Age is a real concern here. I always answer the under-18 posts. This group needs advice, rather than confirmation or condemnation, and they might get or learn something.
Pic: I'd rather see them be honest and let us see them as they really are. But they may wish to conceal appearance for security.
I think there's a mix of people lying and not lying and a mix of reasons too.
I personally am honest because its who I am in general. Though I don't want personal photos on here because I'm not here to date.
Some people have fake photos because they are embarassed by their own looks and wish to meet someone "better" than they feel would like them.
Some people are out to deliberately mislead.
Some people just don't want to be known as a real person online, but don't want to feel not included (which not having a picture can sometimes make people feel... I must confess people hiding their identity too much I don't trust).
Yeah you never know really...I mean people could have pictures of their kids posted and say it was them. who knows?I think a lot of people are also younger than they say they are-they say they're 18 but they're probably only about 15 which you can tell by some of the questions asked. I just take it with a pinch of salt; I treat this site like it was a chatroom-it may or may not be true. I don't lie tho-wats the point its anonymous!
It's usually younger people who lie about their age and say that they're older, which I think is something you can easily pick up on in a lot of cases. I never really thought about people faking their pictures though. I don't pay too much attention to pictures anyway. I don't really get why someone would put a fake picture, why bother to post a picture at all?
There will always be people that lie, but not everyone does so. I don't lie about my age or gender or anything on here. I don't post a pic though, merely because I prefer not to (there are justifiable reasons for me not to concerning my future career in education).
I don't lie about either, I am here for a purpose and that is to get the oppinion of my fellow peers. The answers that I have gotten while on here are real. I select my friends by answers that they have given and I agreed with or opposed. I don't really care if they lie about their age, ti comes out eventually by their answers to certain questions. If they don't have a picture, I don't care about that either. We are here to find answers and help one another with the questions that they may have and too embarrassed to ask a friend or family member, getting them the help that they deserve is the most important thing to me. Thanks for your question tho! Peace, love & happiness!
I realize there are more imortant things to worry about then if people are lying on Gag but come on most of the questions on here are not very important just people being curious and I was curious why people would lie on a site where no one knows who they are anyway. - 4 months ago
wow that's strange. it's sad that people need to lie. and that's made me more wary, I assumed people didn't lie about that stuff on here, quite naive of me really.
It's obvious that many of the posters who say they're 18-24 are younger than that. I think partly this is because they don't think they'll get straight answers about sex unless they say they're older than they are, and partly because immature kids often want to be seen as mature (ah the irony - when we do actually hit a mature age, we want to be young!)
