To those of you who have filled out the application for federal financial aid: Do you feel it is fair and does an accurate job of deciding how much money the government should give you for school? Why or why not.?
NO! You have to be beyond the brink of dirt poor in order to get financial aid! It's ridiculous! No one ever wants to give a grant. All the government seems to offer are loans, if that. The government decides that a family makes too much money, yet, it seems that no one considers that people have mortgages, utilities, gas, food, and other bills to pay.
That's hard to answer. I was in school during the Clinton administration and it seemed fair then. I don't know what the effects have been of the Bush administration. I can guess.
Fair or not, it's not nearly as bad as private lenders. Be very wary of any loan brokers.

I don't remember. I think it worked the other way though. I recall coming home to find they had new carpet, couches, cars, cabinets, kitchen flooring, and a tv (plus misc items). I'm still paying off my loan, so I think I didn't get any credit for them. Didn't get much financial help from them either. C'est la vie. (: - 9 months ago
