How are you handling the recession? Has recession affected you?

The recession sucks...period.

It is easy for some shlub in office to say that things are getting better or the recession is over but in all reality he is paid to say that. It is us the "little guys" that suffer the most. While we have to bust down every door to make ends meet those people who say things like that are still getting fat off the cream that people like you and I will never see. We are lucky if we even get to look at the cup of cream after someone has drank it all.

I work for a newspaper that is 131 years old this year. It has been placed by Congress on the historic list of landmarks but do you think anyone that high up the ladder would stop to say hey let me give you a hand...no, they sure don't and yet we continue to suffer.

I am also a published spoken word artist and here is what I think of our Great Nation in spoken word form.


Broke and lawless
Silent snipers linger
Silent echos
Not a single sound,

Like a one-winged witness
Wrapped in silicon hair
As bombs and nuclear explosions
Fill this bright night so clear,

Mushroom shaped phalic cloud
Man made terror it's all around
There are bleeding mothers
Even children dead on the ground,

The radiation pollutes this Great Nation
Nation great what a joke
Why is it that 78 million Americans
Are broke,

You see what makes us great
Not some little man on Capitol hill
Scoopin' the spoils
From the War time soils,

Suicides left and right
Gang members kill and fight
While screwed up diplomats
Take immunity flight,

Welfare reform sight
It's pathetic
Thay call us great
What are we great at,

Lying, cheating,
Corporate fraud
Community bans
On back-Yard dogs,

Murder, hate,
University rape
Political flaws
Unemployment don't pay the cost,

Jewish, Catholic,
Christian clergy too
Molesting kids
What a screwed up thing to do,

The doctor spock
The captain too
We are a Great Nation
Look at all the great things we can do,

We'll blow you up
We'll suck you in
Forget about Katrina/Louisiana
And all your kin,

Yet see here is another
Trick in our sack
Bustin' out slavery
Hangin' thousands of blacks,

For what,
Not a reason
Just some b/s white mans crown
Burnin' crosses all over your town,

Bow down to a government
Full of sin
Making my head spin,

I live in this great Nation
Frustration, Manipulation
Suffocation, Stale - mate rotation
Makes creation of this Great Nation.

That is how I feel about it and a whole lot more.

Budgeting and not spending the way I used to. It's still a struggle though.

I am as female gender and compare to the opposite sex it is much complicated when talking about recession as once and now are subtly happening in my country. As female, their necessity are much a bit more than a male. Therefore, like right now I lessen what is not really important, and when I was actively finding a job for past 2 months, I have been rejected and I guess more than 7 times until now I was relieved because I was hired by a company as they refer to my profile online. I was a teacher before but that was only as practical student. Now I have finished my study and happy for hired therefore talking about during recession zone, I was really skinny, hot- tempered, and have the intention to make a suicide especially when I get rejected for many times. Sick! I learn to be strong, patience and preserver to endure this situation. Just imagine I don't eat, just lie on the bed and didn't take a shower for one whole day because I am so frustrated!

I'm worried about spending money on things. I try to prioritise what I actually need versus what I just want. The main thing is I'm worried about the lack of jobs out there and whether this will affect me in the future-it hasn't yet so at the moment its just pure worry.

Well, luckily I haven't felt it at all. lol, still in high school, my life hasn't changed at all. And it hasn't changed my family either. We're very very lucky, I understand.
