well I think we should start talking about religion. do you have a religion why or why not i would like to hear your what you think and if you have any questions for me I would be happy to answer them because I am a firm believer in god and am a christian
islamic but I hate how people who are firm believers of their own religion force their views upon others, I know in every religion its a plus to bring other religions in to urs but that is just annoying and stupid in my opinion. I see it as lets say I'm talking to a 18 year old who follows his religion not greatly but knows his stuff and he's buddist or any other religion; so if I tell him convert to islam its better and all the other things surrounded by it do you think he will belive me? I mean for 18 years he has been following his religion what makes you think that he wil just give up religion like that?
and every religion says follow this religion and it will take you straight to heaven/paradise and all other religions will be obliterated; so how does anyone know which one is the right one?
and I hate the ignorance around islam; people can be such ignorant and arrogant bast*rds
when I said you I don't mean you advicegirl19; I just mean you as in people
Ya I agree everyone always has that doubt about is it possible is this the right religion and no no one should be forced to believe in god, if god wanted people to be forced to believe him he would do it himself not other people - 17 days ago
I'm agnostic for one simple reason, I do not believe there is any way possible for anyone to know the absolute truth on such matters. I live my live according to truths or things that cannot be easily disproved.
Are you a Bible-thumper? You're willing to give advice. Is your 'advice' always right just because it says so in the Bible?
Many people believe in a six-day creation week. Others believe in evolution that took millions of years. I can't take sides in this because no one was there.
I was raised hindu.. but got pretty sick of it at an early age.. If you know the kind of worship that we do, its ridiculous and wastes a lot of natural resources that could be used to feel the millions of poor people in india.. Its common sense to me but they can't see past their religion. It's fine to have something to believe in.. at one point or another in our lives, we run out of "logical" options and there are things that cannot be explained.. so even though we know it can't be proved, we just believe to keep out hope.. The problem lies with people how take religion too seriously.. They should keep it to themselves.. just be modest about it..
For example, I had a friend I met in the library.. we were talking and somehow ended up talking about relationships and religion.. and she told me that if she was gonna get a boyfriend and he was a different religion, she would definitely try to change him.. and if couldn't change him, she wouldn't give him a chance.. That kind of shocked me so I said why would try to change him? She said if he doesn't believe the same thing I do, then he's not worth it. I couldn't believe what she just said.. so I tried to explain to her.. by saying. Hey people need different things.. different guidance to get through life.. for example, look at it like a math problem.. life is the end product.. the end product is 4.. one way to get to 4.. is 2+2.. another way is 6-2.. so its the same life.. no matter how to get through to it.. Same thing with religion.. And then the girl said "oh whatever I still wouldn't date him".. I didn't know what to say to get through this chick's thick skull. I found that extremely close-minded and annoying.
I don't have a religion, I choose not to have a religion because none of it can actually be proved as true, as in the existance of god or jesus or any of that, the church also changes alot, which is odd as the bible was supposed to be one of those original things which was supposed to be strict guideline, no working on sundays and such. I'm not really open to the idea of religion the whole idea of it seems abit bizarre to me. I've had to go to church for christenings or rememberence services, and watching everyone copy one person at the front of an extravegant room just goes over my head, I just don't see why people do it. I'm guessing everyone needs something they can always rely on, wether its a person they love or their own beliefs and morals, everyone is free to have their own opinion though, I'd not criticise anyone who does belive in god or afterlife etc.
I don't criticise anyone else myself because some of the best people I kno aren't christians well I guess having a religion does give some relief because we believe that there will always be someone we can rely on - 18 days ago

Yes that's always been my experience of it. My mum is ultra-religious, she was really offended when I said I didn't believe in god, everyone else seems to automatically think I worship the devil, although if I don't believe in god what are the chances I'd believe in the devil? I don't like upsetting people over their religion although I usually do in the end, not on purpose but I'm just very vocal about my reasons. - 18 days ago

I have done degrees in sciences, I follow them over reading the bible, that's my choice. Hovind is string together ideas which don't make sense, he says that people used to live to 1000, and neanderthals prove this because they have bigger skulls and jawlines? well if he was a biologist in any sense he would realised that despite this increased jawline size and brow size increase, that neanderthals barely made it to the age of thirty. He is also making religious connections to mythology - 18 days ago
Hey Jonny, I read your answer and these comments, and I was wondering about Christians used to believe that the world was flat, because they did not believe the person who proved the earth to be round (I think it was Galileo). Right now the Bible says the world is round, so why did Christians believe the world is flat before, when they are supposed to believe whatever the Bible says, unless the Bible has been edited over the years? - 2 days ago

The bible has been edited, ever heard of new testament? The bible stated that the earth was flat, funnily it was edited to read in a passage, four columns were placed in the each corner of the circle and pulled together to make a sphere. This statement is wrong on so many levels. Think about it, the church have changed many things in bible, you can't buy pardons from sins anymore, working on sunday is no longer frowned upon, eating meat on friday is gone as well, they change the bible alot. - 2 days ago

I am questioning my religion. I am a non-denominational Christian, I believe in Jesus and acknowledge and try to follow the Bible but I wonder if this is the religion I'm meant to believe in? I'm also really spiritual at the same time, I don't know how to explain it but I do believe in spirits and energies.
I don't believe in or follow any particular religion. I have some very religious family, but my parents made the decision to raise me away from that kind of influence, because they wanted me to be able to make my own choice. My dad was actually excommunicated from the Mormon church for having children outside of wedlock, and my mum has just never been religious. They encouraged me to learn and explore. I had every opportunity to go to the various different churches people in my family belong to, and the times I did never felt right to me.
By the time I learned -anything- about religion to even WANT to try out church, I'd already formed some of my very basic beliefs about how things work, and Christian explanations for those things didn't fit what I already believed. I've looked into a lot of different things. I even had a huge stint with Paganism and Wicca from the ages of like eleven through fifteen or so, and a small interest in Satanism. I don't follow those paths anymore because none of them fit me perfectly, but I still have all of the numerous books I collected over the years on the subjects, and some of my beliefs are still distinctly pagan, though I don't really believe in God.
I love studying and learning about different belief systems and philosophies, but I don't think I'll ever confine myself to one. I've always done my own thing and made my own path, in every aspect of my life. I see no reason that religion would be any different.
I think people actually do talk about religion here somewhat frequently...
I was raised Catholic, but I don't really practice anymore. I call myself "religiously confused" rather than claim a religion, and I doubt that will ever change.
