I'm kinda in the same situation... My best friend's girlfriend thinks we're more than friends. Its not that he plays us up we're strictly friends and have never overstepped that and I wouldn't disrespect their relationship like that.
Tell your friend that he isn't helping the situation out for you at all. Ask him if he really wants you and his girlfriend to be friends, or is he just getting an ego boost out of playing the two of you against each other. This really starts with him. She only knows you based on what she's hearing about you, so it's up to him to make the situation more comfortable for you and his girlfriend. Ask him to stop intentionally making her jealous, since it's coming back to hurt you (and not him). See if he's willing to work on it, otherwise there's not a whole lot you can do.
