It's hard to phrase this, so I'll explain: I've never been popular and have a small group of friends. I'm not good at having conversations, and never know what I should say/talk about. I am also terrible at calling friends and talking on the phone. The third thing is that whenever I get together with someone, I don't know what we should do. Recently I was talking with a girl at my school and as awkward as I thought I was, she is still talking with me and we exchanged numbers. This girl is really popular and cool, and I don't want her to think I'm a loser. I really want to be like the typical teenager and talk on the phone and not be afraid of calling people. I want to be able to hang out and not feel like there is nothing to do or say that they would like. I want to feel like people like talking with me and won't ignore me or think I'm a freak. HELP!?
btw- if anyone read this all the way through, YOU ROCK! (no, really! )

I am the exact same way. Calling people makes me extremely nervous, even if it's calling people who have left a message telling me to call them back! The nerves, and feelings of awkwardness are something we can't control. People often ask me why I don't talk a lot, and yes, I am a shy person, but I also just don't know the words to say. They're just not there. I have a small group of friends too, but they're the most amazing girls I have ever met. I wouldn't trade them for anything. They hug me because I'm quiet, and hug each other for their own personality traits. Don't worry about being popular or the typical high school girl. If your close group of friends loves you for who you are, that's all that matters. Cherish those relationships.

As for the talking to the popular girl on the phone part, hopefully she'll be more talkative, and that will make things easier. Just have short conversations until you get to know her better, and maybe that will help lead to you feeling a little more comfortable.

Paxil helped my brother a lot, although I think he was a bit worse than you. He used to have trouble just gong to school. He's really better since he's been on it. Before that he just smoked a lot of pot and said that it kind of helped, but it's not like that lasts all day so he'd either be high or all nervous and stuff.
