I booked my holidays in January so I could take time off this summer to spend with my kid while she is out of school. My coworker did not book holidays until May and now she thinks I should give her the days off that I've had booked for the past 5 months. The thing is, I really don't have any hard & fast plans for those day specifically, but I really dislike the fact that she is demanding I give those days to her. She is being very miserable about the whole thing, She is telling me I'm being hard to work with and she even called me a bitch, because I would not give the days to her, what would you do. Would you keep your holidays the same or would you give in to her demands. I have worked for the company twice as long as she has so she can't force me to give her the time it's mine if I want to take it.

Update: Our boss just quit on Friday and she thinks she should be running the show because she is older then me.    7 months ago

Personally I think you should pull her aside and say something like "I just wanted to let you know that had you handled yourself differently you probably would have gotten different results but things as they are, I am not going to cancel my holiday. If nothing else take this as a learning experience and next time you might get a more favorable outcome."

Question Asker Lol that would be too funny, she would blow a gasket, as it is she is not talking to me, real grown up behavior for a 58 year old woman huh. - 7 months ago
ALWAYSclassy Yeah you should tell her that! - 7 months ago

The hell with her. She doesn't even have the respect to ask you nicely.

Question Asker Yeah the thing is, I hate working with her when she won't even talk to me, she just makes things miserable when she does not get what she wants. Yesterday she just started screaming at me telling me I was a bitch and difficult to work with because I would not give in. - 7 months ago
Answerer How does she get away with that crap in the workplace? Someone should get her fired! - 7 months ago
kandi I have to agree. Have you tried reporting her to HR? - 7 months ago
Question Asker Our boss just up and quit on Friday and we are the only 2 that work in the office, she is sneaky she is the type of person who would never say anything to my face when there is someone around to over hear the discussion. Besides that if she quits or gets fired, not only will I not get my holidays when they are scheduled, but I'll be working by myself, for the next 2 months till the company puts out an add, interviews and short lists and finally hires someone who I'll train 4 the next 2-3 months - 7 months ago

I would keep them. She waited too late, so now she must deal with it. Plus, she can't respect you, so why oblige her? Even though you don't have plans, think of something. Spending time with your child is more important than meeting your co-worker's desires.

no you shouldn't it's rood of her to expect you to just give them up just because she didn't think ahead. don't do it. or if you feel guilty enough about it and just can't get over it make a deal, half and half. and if you say have something every day planned but more important things at the beginning of the week and not so important at the end of the week, give her the end of the week. it's ur choice.

Question Asker It's not a day or a week we are talking about here, it's a month, so if I give it to her I'll be waiting a full month longer before I'm able to go anywhere not just a few days - 7 months ago
