Sin City, Twelve Monkeys, V for Vendetta, Jacob's ladder, Requiem for Dream, American Beauty, Pi, The matrix, A Beautiful Mind, The Shining, Batman Begins, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Memento, Night Watch, Taxi Driver, If., Vanilla Sky, Stay, Léon - one of my all time favorite movies, Being John Malkovich, The Basketball Diaries.

I guess it depends on what you mean by 'like these' - I've only seen Donnie Darko out of the ones you mentioned and these all sprang to mind. Some are similar in plot, others in style and mood, and I guess some are just films I like - that I somehow connect to it. But they're all pretty good movies, in my opinion anyway.

Question Asker Actually, thank you I have seen a fair amount of the ones you have mentioned and have heard of the others, some of them I do see connected, and along the lines you have there I would also put The Secret Window, which was a really good movie too, but not all of these are exactly what I was looking for I'll update the question to hopefuly clarify a bit. - 6 months ago

Question Asker I seen The Butterfly Effect and honestly I thought it was alright but didn't come nearly close enough to the feel of Donnie Darko, on some small scale I was actually a little let down bye how much better I thought it could have been, but still thank you for your answer. =) - 6 months ago

If you like Elfen Lied, read up on Gantz, and High School of the Dead.

www.stoptazmo.com has them.

Question Asker Well it's not so much the violence (believe it or not) that I enjoyed most about it, it was the tragedy, I think tragedy is very beautiful, so if those are like that I will be sure to chec them out, if not let me know please. - 6 months ago
Answerer Just freaking download one chapter of both and decide for yourself. Also, Elfen Lied was definitely not a tragedy. It had elements of it, but was not. There was never any clear defining line between hero and villain, and the scenes of emotional magnitude were marred by grotesque violence. Though it was still good.

God forbid you waste 20 minutes of your time seeing for yourself if you like Gantz or High School of the Dead. They're both very good, but hey, don't take my word for it.

Question Asker Well, I was just hoping to narrow it down a little without needlessly spending my time, however I will look into them, and "a dramatic composition, often in verse, dealing with a serious or somber theme, typically that of a great person destined through a flaw of character or conflict with some overpowering force, as fate or society, to downfall or destruction." that is the definition of tragedy from Dictionary.com, so actually it is a tragedy. - 6 months ago
