OK I know a lot of you probably think a kid that just wants too see a lot of boobs.no and if I want to get into a career with that I would do something where it didn't involve a scalpel. I want to do it because its a way that I can make people feel good about themselves. The only problem I have with it is that a lot of the people generally think that I got this fixed so why not go back for more. I don't want to have to see the same people over and over again mainly because I want to know that what I did helped them feel positive about themselves. Another thing I think of is that people think of it as just a quick fix, I don't want to do it a majority of people think that tho I want to do it if people will take it as the final step or a jump start to making themselves an overall better person.

my second choice at the moment is a Family Practitioner (lol the doctor you go to when you are sick, only thing different is that this one is able to treat infants)

Well, I'm glad that your not one of those people that just want to look at a lot of boobs, because most of the guys that I know would do that job, just for that reason. I think that if you like to be around infants, than be the family doctor, but if you can't stand it, than be a plastic surgeon, but be warned, if you mess thing up accidentally with someone, than you can get fired, and maybe even sued! so be careful with what you chose, if your under the age if 16, than you still have a lot of time to think about this, if not, than think fast!

If you are going to be a plastic surgeon, you really won't be able to decide who your patients are. and if you're to picky you won't get any. I say go for the Family Practitioner!

Unfortunately you really won't be able to decide whether to perform more surgery on them or not. You can always try talking them out of it but in the end the customer will rule with their dollar and you'll either take the cash or close your practice because of your highly ethical standards.

Remember, plastic surgeons make a lot of money and in order to sustain the lifestyle you'll have to do things at certain times which you may either not agree with or think is unnecessary.

Question Asker You can deny doing something to a patient. Take Michael Jackson for instance, Lol more plastic surgeons won't do anything more to his face just because it is unsafe. Not saying that surgery is the best thing to do. That and if I think the person is getting addicted to it you can also decline their proposal. - 6 months ago
Answerer Yes, you can definitely deny them but if a person is addicted to plastic surgery they will just take their business elsewhere... And in my opinion, plastic surgery is not a platform for the doctor to take an ethical standpoint on because while many do good things, such as re constructive surgery for burn victims, etc. the majority of the practice would be implants, nose jobs, lifts, tucks and so on. - 6 months ago
Question Asker I know I understand that but what your not getting is that I'm not going to treat a patient if they come back constantly. As in they get out and get healed up and just come back .

Answerer Guy, I got it but I am saying that it isn't easy to turn down $10k+ when you are fresh out of school and trying to build a practice... I've had plenty of people talk profoundly about their high and moral ethics only to leave them at the curb when it was crunch time.

I'd say, just concentrate on becoming the plastic surgeon and worry about the ethical standpoint once your practice is in full gear and you've build a good name for yourself. - 6 months ago

Seeing a client time-after-time is part of the gig. It is one of those facts that one can't always control. As an artist, you can paint a picture that you feel is perfect, yet it is in the eye of the beholder. People do things for personal reasons. Those reasons are theirs, and theirs alone. As a surgeon, you are offering your abilities to help someone obtain their hopes for their appearance. I say "their," because you are merely a tool for their goals. You can do the best job humanly possible, but people tend to never be satisfied. I too wish we lived in a world where everyone could obtain everything they desired on the first try. Unfortunately that just isn't always possible! The best thing you could ever do for a client, is do the best you possibly can every time you were to pick up a scalpel! Good luck with your aspirations!
