First off I am not really Looking for answers here, mainly just venting but if you would like to toss in your thoughts feel free.

I have never understood why people think that birthdays are so important. Let me re-phrase that - why they think my birthday is so important and why I need to celerbrate it. To me it is just another day on the calander. I have reasons that I don't want to have anything done for me on my birthday. but I don't understand why people won't respect my wishes and not do anything. I completely understand to most people their birthday is something important to them and I am more then happy to help them celerbrate theirs but when it comes to mine and they ask me what I want to do, I simply respond with, "nothing" and tell them to please respect my wishes and not do anything. Yet, what do they do? Get a party together and then act all surprised when I am not happy with them that they did that.

I guess I will never understand.

Different people have different ways of showing love. Some people mostly use touch (like hugging, too! ), some people talk, some are more likely to help you fix your car or your faucet. And then there are people who show love by setting up cute birthday parties, personalized presents, and stuff like that. They are trying to show their love, and they honestly don't understand that you don't see it like that.

There are no real solutions, are there?

They are just trying to tell you that they love you. I understand your wishes but some people are never going to get that because to them a birthday means something - usually good. I could care less too, but I care less one way or the other. If I am thrown a party I have a good time and say thank you because someone thought I was worth their time and effort. If I get nothing, that is ok too. I know I am loved by my friends and family and it is just another day.
