I bought some nair hair remover lotion for my bikini line because I'm sick of ingrowns from shaving. However.for me, Nair has put a new meaning to the phrase "firecrotch." Does anyone have suggestions for hair removal without ingrowns?

You can always wax. It is going to hurt a lot more than shaving but it is more effective. One you don't have ingrown hairs. And two the more you wax that specific area, over time the hair won't grow as much.

The reason that waxing helps is because it targets the root of the hair rather than just the top of the hairs like shaving. Even when it the hair grows back in like 4-6 weeks compared to the 1-3 days of shaving, the hair is much smoother and even less darker. I would definately choose waxing. Hope this helps.

u can still shave, but after you shave, rub on a gel that's called bikini zone. it works miracles! I used to get really bad ingrown hairs and now I get hardly any. you can buy bikini zone at drugstores or other places like walmart.

I hope you didn't get the Nair Hair Remover for regular use. Nair also makes a special formula for the bikini line, I've used that all summer so far with no irritation, just smoothness. Try that and see how it works!

Question Asker I tried the one for legs and it worked fine on my bikini line. When I used the one for the bikini line it hurt like hell and burned me and was blotchy - 6 months ago

Well if you're going to stick with shaving, make sure that you use a new blade or something that is still very sharp. and make sure that you only shave WITH the grain of your hair growth, not against it like a lot of people do with their legs. Too, the less you have to go over the same spot, the less chance you'll have of getting razor burn or ingrowns, so be precise and don't overdo it.

Unfortunately, you'll still get some ingrowns as anyone does, just make sure that your skin is exfoliated (be careful, that sensitive skin that has clothing rubbing on it all the time) and that you have a sharp razor. I think they actually make bikini line ones these days by Noxema.

I asked this question and so far none of the suggestions have worked for me - even wax strips. :(

I wish they would just vanish without ingrowns - they itch and burn and it's hell isn't it.

I hate nair that stuff always had a bad effect on me. But yah I agree waxing is the best way to go, people say that the do it yourself isn't a good idea, but being careful and learning your way up, you could be a pro at it.
Hope this helps.
