I know this is probably, not the right forum to be asking this, but I keep googling and all I get is "pay to ask a vet".
Anyways my dog is still a pup, 1 year, I know human years but whatever.

So he keeps licking his testicles and they're really swollen, and I'm scared it could be like a disease. I recently took him to get a haircut, and I called them up to tell them, and they just said t take him a bath and run cold water in the irritated spot. but this was three weeks ago and he keeps irritating the spots, what can I do instead of taking him to the vet?

Wel, you just got lucky.I actually work for a vet--I'm a VetTech, I'll see if I can help. Umm, there is this stuff that dogs don't like, I think it's called Yuk. It's a gel substance and has a sour taste. You're gonna have to get physical, but get some on his testicles and when he licks it, he'll hopefully hate it. After continuously doing this, he should learn that balls=Yuk. Haha

If that doesn't work, try hot sauce--not too much, because that stuff is acidic--just a dab to get the taste.

But if you want my true advice, just bite the bullet and get him neutered--it's better for him and you. No more of those male-traits, and less health problems.

If none of these things work, the dog could just have a screw loose. ;) But in the end, a good owner takes his dog to the vet. Just some advice! Good luck!

It could be a reaction to having the hair cut, allergies and stress can cause a dog to play with there body parts and that just irritates them further. Also it could be a sign of infection, tumour or something else wrong in his pelvic area.

I know this isn't what you want to hear but the only way to make sure your dog is ok is to take him to the vet. You owe it to him to make sure he is as healthy as possible.

This could be more serious than you think. My cat was sick and was coughing and sneezing for a while and then he started breathing really heavy. Me and my mom just thought he had a cold. We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with leukemia. We had to put him to sleep because he was at the end stages. He was a stray and my mom and I adopted him and I don't knwo the reason w just never took him to the vet (we took all our other cats though). He was never neutered or he never got any of his shots. IF we had taken him when we found him we would have caught the leukemia and we could have saved him. And since he was not neutered he had a tendency to fight with other cats, which can pass the disease on. I really think you need to go to the vet. It could be serious or it could be nothing. You don't want to find out too late that's it's serious like I did. You could at least call the vet and talk to them about his symptoms. The vet might be able to give you an idea of what's wrong. if he/she wants to see your dog tell them you are having trouble coming up with the money. There might be some kind of payment plan. I hope he;s ok :)

Question Asker I'm so sorry, I knoww how it feels to lose a cat, I used to have one and it died because he was too old.
But yah I'll do that if he isn't well by a week.

Try putting a pair of boxer shorts on him backward, so his tail sticks through the hole. If he's really little get a pair of kid's boxers so they don't fall off. When my dog was neutered, we put a pair of shorts on him so he wouldn't irritate the stitches. If you have those shorts on him, he can't lick and continue to irritate it. Do this for a couple of days to see if the swelling goes down. If it does not go down, then it's not because he's licking them and you should take him to the vet. I would at least call the vet asap though and tell them what's going on to make sure they don't think it's anything too serious.
