My boyfriend is very small. He's about 5'8 but he's really skinny, like his body frame is like a 13 year old's but he's 17. It seems like he's always been small though. Back in freshman year, he looked like he was 10 when he was about 14.
I'm wondering if he'll continue to grow anymore? Will his body naturally become bigger and more masculine or will he just be small forever?
He is skinny as a result of his eating and exercise habits (or lack thereof). He will not grow muscle or meat on his bones naturally (some men do but not him or else he already would have at 17). He can get muscle and meat if he eats a lot of protein and vegetables and food that generally has good nutritional value. If he eats almost all junk food he will not get muscle. But on top of eating right he must be active. Persuade him to go to a gym or join a high school sport.
Diet and exercise is the only way for him to get muscle, even if it's just a little. The girls who say they have a skinny brother or friend who gained weight in college and said to wait a while don't know a damn thing. The reason why nothing2thknkof's brother gained weight after freshman year in college is because he probably ate a lot fast food and take out. And that food is high in fat. Trust me I have been in college and they eat a lot of fast food and take out; it was not something that just occurred naturally. Her brother gained a lot of weight in fat and maybe a little muscle from eating that food. OR he could have hit the gym regularly in college because some college men do that too. But the point is I know for a fact it was a life style change that causes any man to gain weight. Natural growth spurts just don't produce muscle; diet and exercise does!
He'll probably keep growing. Some men don't stop until their mid 20's (same with me). With me it doesn't matter how much I eat (or really how much I work out) I can't gain weight (after 8,000 calorie days and 3+ hours of intense weight training didn't gain weight). Just get stronger and more ripped and stay at 160-170 lbs. :-)
Unless you want him to start wishing you had bigger breasts or a larger butt, I would reconsider your priorities with him. Just my $0.02 (and worth about the same).
your boyfriend hasn't really reached his spurt yet. he will he's just a late bloomer. my older brother had this problem in high school but he was naturally tall. and really skinny but now he' gained weight so he looks normal. i think things will be fine he'll grow and gain some weight and everything will be fine good luck! :]
He doesn't work out but neither do most of my other guy friends. A lot of my guy friends are skinny but like, normal skinny. They're still big guys, you know? - 2 months ago

Yeah. . .some guys are just naturally thin. I don't think you should worry too much about it though, everyone grows into their body soon enough. - 2 months ago
