OK so I'm the youngest of the family and my 18th birthday is on Monday. My parents went to California a couple of days ago and won't be back until next week . But this isn't the first birthday they have missed. My mom was in France and my dad was in San Diego for my 16th birthday as well.
My mom called my best friends mom and asked if I could stay the night on Sunday so I wouldn't wake up alone on my birthday.again. And they are letting me have a party while they are out of town, something they wouldn't be too fond of at any other time.
I think they feel guilty for missing my birthday seeing as it isn't the first time, heck it usually is one or the other that is missing it for whatever reason.
So do you think they feel guilty about missing, yet another big birthday?
My birthday is at the end of August, and my parents have missed a few of my birthdays for vacations. My siblings usually try to do something for me though (I'm the youngest in my family too).
That probably sounds bad, but I know my parents feel guilty for doing stuff like that. They don't miss my birthday on purpose, it's just that their vacation time is limited, and I rarely ever want to go with them. So I think your parents do feel bad about missing your birthday, and that's why they want you to stay at your friend's house and have a party while they're gone--they're trying to make up for it somehow.
