About a year ago I found myself in the same situation your boyfriend is in and they way my girlfriend handled it was great. When I got home from work she handed me a present all wrapped up like it was my birthday. I asked what it was for and was simply told "OPEN".

When I opened it up I found two new bottles of cologne and she said "I needed to replace the other new cologne you got, not because I don't like it, 'cause I do, but it's killing my allergies.

I was cool with her swapping out the new bottle for 2 new bottles, I mean who wouldn't. So that's the way I would do it.

This guy would have to be a real baby to be hurt by you being allergic to his cologne.

And I agree about picking one out. However, I believe you should discuss it with him. Let him know you are having an adverse reaction, but that you would like to take him cologne shopping to find something that works. If you're game, you could even buy him the first bottle.

tazzy Totally I agree to this. It will be fun for both of you to take him shopping for cologne. It's a great bonding moment as far as I am concerned. Better than a date. - 5 months ago

Tazzy is right. You might want to buy him some that you like, or suggest it to him, though.

tazzy Point 1: would probably piss me off. Bringing up an Ex always pisses off a guy no matter how secure he is specially when he is compared to the ex!!

Point 2: It's what controlling girls do. Don't do it unless it is his birthaday or there is some other reason to be giving him a gift!! And yes not all do it maliciously but at least that's what most do, her intentions might be misunderstood. - 5 months ago

I think you have nothing to worry about hurting his feelings! If you are allergic to it, then you are and you should just tell him. Only a wussy would get his feelings hurt for such little things!

I agree that it probably won't hurt his feelings lol. He has some issues if it does.
I mean, you can't help what you're allergic to. It's completely different from saying "I don't like your new cologne."
Suggesting a different one that you do like (and aren't allergic to lol) is a good idea, too :]

Just ask him to change it, nicely. If he gets mad or gets his feelings hurt, then he's a fruitcup.
