The question I'm asking here is does god exist. I'm not debating the romantics of form that the divine may take, given their are so many different religions within our world. This question is a strict focus on the existence of "a god".
I personally am undecided. Faith and the divine are unique given that they have not been proved or disproven yet.
I know Jesus Christ is Lord but I feel very distant from Him lately. It's awful cause my faith right now could trigger a landslide. But yeah~ I've seen His Spirit work in people. There's no excuse for me because I've seen a lot of things happen in my church. Miracles are pretty ordinary there.
check out: Can Man Live without God?- by Ravi Zacharias or Blue Like Jazz- by Donald Miller. Both these books helped me decide my beliefs on the subject.
A lot of Christians out there have turned me off to Christianity. I like their Jesus, but not how some of them act. It's like most of them don't even live or act how Jesus wanted them to. They just flaunt how they don't smoke drink or have sex. On the other hand, I don't see them going out of their way to love others or serve people. Not to lump all Christians in one group, because I know a lot of amazing ones.
The more I look into God, the more I've realized He must exist. The world simply does not make sense without Him, and my life really has no purpose without Him.
I hope those books can maybe help you like they have me.
I don't believe in an organized religion but I do believe that there is a higher power that does exist! Not necessarily a 'GOD' or anything power that helps create a people, objects and current things happen.
It seems like I'm the only one that doesn't believe in god on this question. I'm not biased either. I was raised to be Christian, but when I was 13 I started feeling that I didn't feel a high power or someone was my guidance or whatever. And I was kind of nervous because I felt that way. I was afraid that I was going to offend my religion for not being able to feel something there spiritually. And I've tried other religions. HA! Wicca and Buddhism, and I realized that I felt nothing towards any of those religions. I didn't feel any connection towards anything. So, I'm atheist because of that. I'm a avid believer in science, and I just think the Bible was only meant to be another fable story book with no real truth behind it. It was all just a big misconception.
Your not the only one. I have experienced the same feelings as you. What's interesting to me is the unique co-habitation that science has developed with religion, while politics and religion are in a passenger driver relationship. it makes me think. I don't even want to get started on religion and capitalism....ohhh no. I'd like to keep my blood pressure at normal levels today. good stuff! - 2 months ago
In my country religion and science is closer than politics and religion, because religion and science has many good combinations, like God created the world through the Big Bang. It is more like politics and national socialism in this country, and forget about religion. - 23 days ago
There is definately a higher power out there. I don't necessarily believe its God.I mean I was raised catholic but I definately was force fed it. But I know enough to doubt it a lot. I think that there is a higher power and I believe that it is put there just so that we have faith. I think it is ridiculous to believe that there is no higher power.but I really don't want to start arguments right now so I won't go into it. Just my thoughts
I don't know where I stand on God. I was raised Catholic, and I believed it all when I was younger, but now I don't know. I'm skeptical by nature. I'm not saying there is no god, but I don't feel the need to believe in one.
I do Believe!.haha, no seriously now. There's something out there man, just like Aliens (big beleiver of them ). I mean it's so confusing. I was raised in a religion, where we were'n allowed to celebrate birthdays! How cruel was that, no Halloween, no easter, no christmas! Oh but mother could drink on special occasions, lol. Well we stopped going when I was a teen, and seriously my life came crashing down, parents divorce, brothers in jail, I start messing up, it went crazy. If you were me you would be confused too. My mother now is a.well actually I don't know what she is now, she puts up a lot of candles with pictures of "saints" on them. But anyway, I do believe there is something BIG out there, God, as it is known.
I can understand why people don't want to be involved in any type of religion if they had a bad experience in the past. I think a lot of people get burned out because of the crazy stuff they had to face as children. My dad was a religious nut when it came to his Christianity & it pushed me away from believing in God for a long time. I finally decided to try it again when I was about 25. - 2 months ago

Don't get me wrong, I really do believe. I'll pray to god every now and then. What I can't understand is why are there so many religions. I've tried the whole Christianity thing, went to camp and everything. I've gone to church with my grandmother to "confess" myself. I've gone to Buddhist temples with my father. Now I'm old enough to just say no thanks. - 2 months ago
i know My God exists because this world is so tough, he is my shining light through it all. This is a tough place we live in and I know he exists because when there is NOBODY, not a soul, I can pray and my prayers will be answered.
Its funny how this question just came up, I'm trying to get back on the right path with the Lord, its amazing how easily you can become astray and be so far gone in the world, consumed.
Divine is when you are so far gone off the road, but Jesus Christ died for us and you confess and really believe in your heart, your saved! that's joyous.
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.By faith we understand that the worlds where framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen where not made of things which are visible" -Hebrews 11:1, 3
Im sorry if I went on the religious spiel that people where trying to avoid, but I feel he has been such a blessing in my life, and to ignore this is to ignore all the wonderful things he has done for me. he has brought me a mighty long way, and even these boards have been a blessing to me.
open your heart, see him for yourself, he is awesome
why are you here? what is your purpose?
mine is here to serve my creator who has a place for me. I'm not here for me, I'm here as a vessel.
Wow! great response. And I like that you used reference from your religions sacred text. Very good stuff. My only question I have for you is this, has your view of purpose every changed. Have you ever wanted to be something more or different than a vessel for christianity? Your thoughts? Great stuff and thank you for the response! very awesome! - 2 months ago

Im going through alot. you can tell by my questions in my profile. until a while ago I was here for me. my purpose was to be a nurse make money live how I wanted to .i go to church. I'm baptized. I knew christ but didn't KNOW him. my life came crashing down and I didn't loose a thing but sense of why I'm here. I have everything, but nothing and empty. I looked around and noticed that I'm missing Him. I rededicated my life. living with him leading. I'm a changed person blessed trying to show his love - 2 months ago
Yeah, I've felt the same way - that life without God has no purpose. We have no purpose in life without Love, which the Bible says that God is Love. So, I believe that when we make God the center of our lives, we find what we are looking for and feel fulfilled. When we receive God's love, we want to love and serve others, but we cannot love others unless we have experienced and received love ourselves. So, I totally agree with what you & pray that God keeps you on His path of Love! - 2 months ago

I totally agree. his love is what is the driving force. a good drive I have to say =)
"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending," saith the Lord, "which is, which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Revelation 1:8) He is the beginning and the end, he has no creator. Yet we may not understand the concept of eternity(no beginning and no end) or understand the idea of self-existence, Scripture reveals these truths about God and wants us to accept these facts by faith. Most of the answers are all in the Bible. - 2 months ago
I agree with simplyirresistibles response on who created God. God is way more complex than we are so it is hard to understand how he could have just been there, but He was. if someone created God don't you think us Christians would be worshiping that person? - 2 months ago
A little somethin somethin called the BIG BANG... I believe in some kind of supreme being, but the bible is full of shit.. there is so much in there that is so easily disputed by scientific knowledge that we are constantly uncovering.. to believe in creationism or intelligent design over darwinian theory is just ridiculous! i respect that you have a right to your beliefs etc.. but I kind of think people that believe god created everything are kind of dumb (and I mean that literally) - 2 months ago
