This old boy is back in college and needs help with a problem. I can not find the answer online or in the books. I know you kids are smart with this stuff so I would be grateful for your help.
What is a real life example where I would use the absolute function graph in algebra? Or the square root function graph? Either one.
There is no real life example. It's used for mathematics, and physics. Most theorems are used to derive even more theorems. It's just knowledge that isn't real world applicable but sometimes necessary to understand further into a field. I mean you can stretch it and say that it applies to engineering and physics problems in real life where you would need that graphs to understand a a theorem that will derive a formula used in the problem. Something along those lines.
The graphs, I am not sure about. However, the square root comes in handy if you want to build, or install, anything triangular, since the Pythagorean formula requires you to square the two sides to find the hypotenuse of the triangle. It also comes in handy in land navigation, and various other scenarios where you may have to develop a work around, to the way things were supposedly going to work the first time. Construction is a good place to know how to get these types of values.
