Ok I live in California and I'm not completely clear on the laws regarding the "child molestation".
Any ways my boyfriend is 20 and I'm 17. When does the law kick in? How much can we do? Also, will he only get in trouble if I, or my parents turn him in? He's an old family friend and my parents are fine with us dating and they know I'm not going to go all the way, and sleep with him (and even if I did they would get mad at me not him)
If we are in a public place, ex: the park, could a police man see us and send him to jail, or would I have to press charges?
You guys just can't bump ugly's or do ANY sexual activity ( includes hand jobs, Blow jobs etc.) YES, his parents can press charges of Statutory rape ( if they have some sort of proof.) No a police cannot arrest you if you guys are just hangin' out. But If you guys are having sex in a car he sure can send him to jail. Just be careful. Hope this helped a little.
A policeman can't just walk up and arrest him, but if someone reports that you've had sex, he could get in trouble. I read an article about a girl who was 18 and dating a guy who was 15 or 16, and someone at school reported them, so she had to register as a sex offender to avoid going to prison.
Basically, don't have sex (or at least don't tell anyone about it).
There is nothing wrong with it and its not a child molestation because its just a little bit age difference,when the law will kick in is when he is 34 and you are 17 although sometimes it doesn't matter. When you will be 20 he will be 23 and its just three years old difference. And secondly four years is the maximium age diff. and you are just below so it doesn't really matter

I just thought I'd speak out about this because I'm 18 years old my friends range from 16 to 19 but a lot of my friends and people I know are 16 /17! And to be honest I'm shocked that girls now a days...
