As most of you know, the way that Xper Points are calculated has changed couple weeks ago! With the new method, quality posts will earn you more points and best answers have the biggest weight. To learn more, go to Xper Help

We also are now offering the option to redeem your Xper Points for prizes and cool stuff!(Only 3 for now) For more information, visit My Xper

What do you all think of the new method and how points are calculated? Does it make more sense compared to the old system in order to identify GirlsAskGuys users who are active and give good advice?

You can also read Onur's post on our blog.

Update: There are no shipping and handling fees for the items you earn with your Xper points!    2 months ago

Update: Also, You will not loose your points. Say you have 2000 points and got a GirlsAskGuys tshirt for 1500 points then your "eligible" points to get another item will be 2000-1500=500. But on the site you will still be seen with your 2000 points."    2 months ago

Can you offer at least 3 points for writing a story? They take a lot of time and effort but unless they are selected as a feature.which is not so often.you get only 1 point when you get 3 for a two line answer to a question! Featured or not!

What I don't like is how the quick and unimportant questions get featured, but the long ones that are important to the asker simply fade away. Those are the ones that should be featured so more people can see them.

I am going to write a story, but I notice not many points are given for them although they take a lot more thought and effort than just whipping out answers to questions. There's no incentive to read them since people get no points for it as they do for even just logging in!

Austin If you write a good story it will become an article and you will get 20 points(more than best answer). Incentives for reading stories should be the good advice you are getting :) - 2 months ago

Describe a "quality" post. Who decides that?

It took me forever to get my xper points. Why give them up?

cavalier I think it has to do with the ratings. thumbs up or thumbs down - 2 months ago
Austin If you have an answer for a question and your answer is selected as Best Answer, that's a quality post and will earn you 10 points. If you have a story and that story becomes an article, quality post again :), you get 20 points. If you ask a question and it gets rated high(quality post), you get extra points for your rating.
So "quality" is determined mostly by you who actually see the posts. For articles our moderation team makes the decision of which story will become an article. - 2 months ago

that's all cool and good. you should also do something about mods or admins who edit our posts.sometimes it's necessary, I understand but sometimes, I believe some mods don't take the time to actually read what we write because they edit it in ways that make no sense or alter the meaning of the question so you wind up not really getting the advice you wanted/needed.

I wish there was a way readers could 'rate' answers to their questions, not just select one best answer. Sometimes there are several 'best' answers and you can only reward one of them!

I think you should give more weight to articles and stories. As it is now most people never look at them.maybe you should get points for responding in a comment to a story or article.and the article author could also get a point for each person who responds.

Austin Yes we do give more points to articles/stories. If a story you write is featured, you get at least 20 points and more if you get ratings. - 2 months ago
