A buddy of mine just found out he is getting redeployed shortly for a third tour. This even though he was supposed to get out almost 3 years ago, ya got to love them back doors. But anyway that's another issue all together and since I am trying to stay on topic here.
Anyway, we were talking about the whole situation and something came up that neither one of us could answer. Where is and does all the Iraqi oil and oil money go? Aren't they supposed to have these vast oil reserves? I know we didn't go in there for oil, we went in 'cause Saddam had those Weapons of Mass Distraction, I mean Destruction. Well, we went in 'cause . well we are there and we are continuing to stay there to benefit the Iraqi People, right? Well then since we are helping them out, don't ya think they should help us out by I don't know, SELLING US SOME FRICKIN GAS, & maybe like paying us back some of the costs incurred in setting them free?
About 40% of American oil comes from right here in America. The other 60% comes from all over the world, not just Iraq. I don't really know how to answer that part for you--it's up to the government to get oil from Iraq, and they're obviously not up for that.
As far as us "setting them free" goes, they didn't ask to be freed. Why should they pay us when it was our decision to invade their country?
It was more of a tongue and cheek kind of phrase the way I meant it. I was also more blowing off some steam as I am just dumb founded at the entire situation. - 2 months ago

Damn his third tour?!? It's about time this freakin war is over. My husbands over there right now and it sucks. You'd think they should sell us some gas, but are they gonna? Nope. Especially not right now either. My husband says the Iraqi Army itself is getting very fed up with the US Troops being there and they want us out bad. So, we're definitely not gonna get anything now.
