Okay so I really and truly like this guy. I'm always happy when I hear his voice and I get easily jealous when he is with other friends. Problem is I only see him once a day and when we walk together he either avoids making eye contact or he is smiley and talks freely to me (therefore, I never understand what he is thinking).
We both play soccer and tomorrow both our teams are going to finals at the same park at the same time on fields right next to each other and I really wish I could just go up to him and hug him or say good luck or anything. I'm kind of shy and I'm not sure if he would get mad or anything (he is always so nice but we haven't been friends for long).
I guess my real question is - would giving him a hug or something be too sudden or maybe a bad thing?

If you're confident in your decision then do it...but if you're shy you might wanna refrain a little. Try this - if you have his number text him "I just wanted to hug you when I saw you today" he'll prob say that you should have then you say "I was to afraid you would reject it".

Not at all! Especially on such an important day. What do you have to lose, anyway? If he's like, "what the hell?" then take your frustration out on the field. If he's like, "aw, thanks, good luck to you!" then take your energy and excitement to the field.
I'd say do it...you only live once and I don't think anyone every got pissed when someone gave them a quick hug and wished them luck!
