How many of us in here were spanked as a child?

In elementary school, yea, I got paddled three times by a rather large paddle. Our principal had quite the arm as well.

My parents were split up, but yes, I was spanked as a child by my mother. My mom had a paddle about 18" long and about 1" thick. It had holes drilled all the way through (to help with wind resistance) and holes drilled halfway through (to increase the pain when it struck). Whenever my sister yelled "Mom!", regardless if I did anything or not, usually meant the paddle on the rear. The only problem was at times I'd try to get away, and if my mom hit herself while trying to paddle me, then she'd swing and wherever it hit.it hit, bottom or not. :-/

I don't intend on spanking my children (whenever I have some) like *that*, however I am considering using it as necessary. It does work when used effectively.

i was beaten almost daily. lol. every time I did something wrong. lol. I can honestly say it made me a much better person, and a resposible man.

yes, belts, flipflops, etc.

my dad used his belt, my mom always used a flipflop to hit, its funny cuse if she didn't have 1 she used what ever was close. lol.

man am telling u, having egyptian parents is touch,lol. its like you know ur in trouble when they find out or when they get home. lol.

My dad spanked me as a kid. It didn't improve my behavior. lol

you guys had it easy! my parents didn't feed me for a day and then made me sleep outside on the patio. even in winter =[

sure did. as the generation y, it made us tougher. kids today are pussies.

I was spanked some. My father used his belt and always snapped it when he was coming to spank me. Yeah that was a great way to scare a kid. My mother used a pizza paddle. She stopped spanking me when the paddle shattered, literally, on my bottom. I showed that paddle who was boss. I don't think my dad spanked me much passed that either. It just kind of stopped.

I was spanked as a kid by both parents. I never liked it and in the end it just made me angrier. What worked well was taking my privileges away.

Oh yes, they did. They used to do this a lot and sometimes it was really baaaad. I just hope that I won't do this to my own children. I know how I felt back then and I certainly don't want my children to feel like that

There must be more sensible ways to teach your child a lesson.

Hell yes my parents spanked me as they should have. They never hit me with anything but an open hand on my butt. When my mom said she was going to spank us we weren't all about it but it was tolerable. When my dad said he was going to spank us we thought about running into traffic to avoid it. When we went into a store we didn't ask for ANYTHING! The first thing we asked for the first time we were out of that store and in for a woopin.

Me! Haha. Now that I think of it, I got spanked a lot. And man did it hurt! That was my mother's prime source of discipline. That and taking away my Barney watching privileges. Bad times lol.
