Roses have so much more meaning than chocolate. If you look at what roses stand for you will know. But it must come from the heart. I would like roses and a poem, even a little teddy bear, ( since I still love teddies) But as long as it comes from the heart its perfect!

Yess that`s the kind of poem I mean , but you can give a rose and state the signifcance of why you gave the rose to her that would be truly apperciatied .

a peom if written by yourself can be a huge turn on personally, and I'm not a sap, but the thought someone wasted time writing you a poem is a nice thought, it doesn't even matter if it's not that good.

I like the classic one rose option. But I would rather have something meaningful. Let's say my boyfriend and I have an inside joke. It would mean a lot to me if he did something that alluded to that inside joke - just because it shows me that he cares. I guess what I'm trying to say is what matters most to me is the thought that's put into the gift, not the actual gift itself. Honestly, anyone can buy a bouquet of roses or a box of chocolates. But if you actually sit down and put serious thought into the gift, and the gift shows it, then I couldn't be happier.

Answerer Because every girl loves getting flowers-makes us feel special and its something that shows you care about us and we can show them off in our house (well,until they die lol). Plus, roses are special on vday. Id love it if a guy bought me roses-its never happened before lol. - 9 months ago

Chocolates = gone within moments
Roses = dead within days
Poems = a lasting memory on your heart and soul and it truly shows how much you care . ( this is a poem your writing yourself I assume ) . I would like all 3 , but the poem will be my first choice .

Question Asker Lol,
roses = dead within days??
a rose means a lot to me, and have a lot of significance if you interpret the situation right... but I don't people think what yourself would think - perhaps that's why its a fail...
i don't like my poetry to be like a nursery rhyme like in those valentines day cards,,, I like to spend time on it, allow it to coincide with my feeling, and perpetuate my thoughts,
what do you think of having a poem like that? - 9 months ago

If you are just planning on asking her out for the first time, a rose is really cute and its not over the top. You don't want to go overboard and get her anything big if you just want to ask her out because it might make her feel weird.

If she is your girlfriend, all of these are really cute.

Roses are cliche. I much prefer something unique, like lilies or wildflowers. The best Valentine's Day present I've ever received was a pink lacoste polo and a bunch of wildflowers. My ex left them in my bed in my dorm room when I was showering to get ready for v-day dins. Great surprise and very original!

Question Asker It's totally true - roses are cliche and it's because people don't understand what a rose is anymore,
these days it's like 'heres a rose for you, I love you, love me too...' - but its much more deeper than that...
you should read some old romance novels (1600 - 1800's), try to understand what the author tries to tell you- like when there is a whole page on just description on love and flowers and the author fills it with personification and metaphor's - very intriguing... - 9 months ago
Answerer Yeah I'm pretty anti-cliched romance, so that's very not me. I'm actually not very sentimental when it comes to things like that. I generally spend half of romcoms thinking "oh how sweet" and the other half gagging from the sappiness. Unfortunately, I think my high school boyfriend kind of ruined overt romance for me. These days I'd much prefer wildflowers and bruins tickets to roses and a poem. - 9 months ago
Question Asker My condolences to the lost part of you... - 9 months ago
