You could like maybe write up a "coupon" for a massage or a romantic dinner or a kiss or something that he could use anytime he wanted to. Or, you could just give him a romantic evening with dinner and a movie or something like that but let it lead to something more.if you know what I mean! (He might like that most of all for Valentine's Day!) :)
My last girlfriend had a knack of finding stuff I had randomly talked about before. Just like The-Nash says, it's hard to find a gift for Valentines Day for a guy. It's mainly about the ladies.
Electronics, that extra something for his hobby he won't buy because it's too expensive. For the budget conscious, make it an activity (coupon book with favors from you.) They don't have to be sexual, they can be, 'A trip to the ice cream palor' or 'teach me how to play this (poker, basketball).' I like it when my lady wants to learn new things and looks to me for help.
I don't think guys are too expecting for gifts on valentine's day. Something small, if anything. Maybe something that says that you know his personality. Something like a knick-knack or figurine or creative picture or poster that personifies who he is a little bit. Whenever I get a gift like that I think "wow, how clever; she really knows me!"
There's got to be something small that remind you of him in a special way as you pass through the mall, or department store or whatever. Maybe it's related to a certain type of history, or culture, or interest that is one of his hobbies.
Ok so revising what I said before. Something like a nice home cooked meal or maybe like dress yourself up for him because guys like when a girl looks good. He'll feel really special if you do that.
