Why are a lot of men to shy to ask a girl on a date?

All guys are different some guys are naturally confident and some are just shy and afraid of rejection, but the way I see it (through my personal experiences) is if you establish a good connection (be it with eye contact, hand gestures, or just how you talk to him) that makes it easier.

I'm a natural shy guy but if I feel a connection then I loosen up and get more confident, most of my friends say that I'm confident and really skilled at talking to girls but that is just because when I talk to any girl I try to establish some connection then it seems easy. (I know that this seems like a trait I have naturally but I had to learn it and I think that all guys can learn this trait)

Just like everyone is not born to be a leader, everybody is not born to be social and outspoken; we are afraid of asking girls out because as it was already said, 'we fear rejection. ' however, some guys are born social, or at least they are taught to go up to girls at an early age.

One interesting quick story. My half brother used to be very shy, and when he had his first kid, he told me that what he would do was since at an early age, tell him to go up to any woman and hug her, and kiss her; of course, if you have a 3 year old coming your way to hug you, and squeeze you some, you're not going to reject him. Well, this 3 year old is now 25 years old, and women love him because he is so affectionate, and nice. For whatever reason, he can up to any woman, touch her, and the women are not bothered by it. Send any other guy to do the same, and the woman is crying for the cops and sexual harassment. My half brother and I just wonder though----what would have happened if my nephew wasn't encouraged from an early age not to be afraid of women? :))

Because guys are the ones who have to initiate and face rejection, and it takes balls especially if you're a shy guy like me.

Shyness for dating can be summed up by this phrase - "the fear of rejection"!

I think it depends on the personality I have never really been the shy type about anything.
