I don't even know if it is real, but it was on the news and it had a picture, too. Has anyone seen any before?

I remember seeing a picture of the montauk monster on the news apparently dead and washed up on shore. From what I remember it was actually just a decomposed raccoon or something that looked pretty scary. I don't think it's real. I don't think was a hoax either, just a mistake.

The montauk monster was first discovered back in july 2008. It was coined the "montauk monster" because the girl who supposedly found its dead body was from montauk. No one knows if such a creature really exists as the picture was the only evidence of it. Many believe it is either a hoax or it really was just the dead body of a known species like raccoon. The story surfaced again as in early may, 2009, another dead body of the montauk monster was allegedly found and was reported by fox news. So far, though, there is still no hard scientific evidence that this is truly a new species of animal.

In the summer of 2008, jenna hewitt, then 26, of montauk, new york, along with three of her friends claimed to have seen the remains of the montauk monster while looking for a place to sit at ditch plains beach. The montauk monster may be the remains of a raccoon with it’s upper jaw missing, but at this point, the bulk of the stories about the carcass appear to be apocryphal.

Montauk monster is an unidentified creature that washed up dead on a beach near montauk, new york. They don't know if its real, some think it is a turtle without its shell. No one has seen one besides the one that washed up.

The montauk monster washed ashore dead on a beach near montauk, new york. There was much speculation about what the "monster" was. Some thought it was a turtle with a missing shell, a dog or a raccoon. Scientists concluded that the creature looked deformed because it had been submerged in the water for an extended period of time.

Yes they have. It is apparently some type of mutant dog or rodent or animal that looked like a dog with a bird head.

That looks creepy! It may be real but rare. It must be due to mutations in the species that caused deformation or something. But again, I have no idea if it is real!

let me google it and see if I have seen it before! ^__^ I love google... -googling-

-eyes bug out- uh, what is that...? it is scary looking... in answer... it could be real and it could be fake... a hoax if you will but I highly doubt it. there is a lot of earth we know nothing about. maybe this creature came from the north or south. cause, you see, with global warming many of our ice caps are melting thus releasing things caught in the ice. it is dead and it looks as if it came from somewhere cold... the skin all blue... you never know what was caught in the ice. but it was probably real at one point in our history. but no, they are not coming back. they died out but this one was well perserved. or its a nice costume made by some prankster.
