My cousin was 8 months and 2 weeks along. I'm not sure what the family is going to do or what to expect. Do people have funerals, burials,...? Just looking for some feed back.
Update: So we found out that they were already planning on performing a c-section. They have still not removed the baby from my cousin. They found out it was dead during a check up the other day. Why wouldn't they remove the baby, it can't be healthy?

Usually, funerals are had for babies that die after being delivered, due to complications or illness. Babies that are miscarried or die in the womb don't usually have funerals. BUT, she was quite far along, close to ready to deliver, so it's a grey area where everyone does what they want. I don't suggest funerals, just a small burial ceremony for close family members, because it will be hard for the family and the baby had not been delivered, so there is less of an attachment to it by friends, etc. Callous sounding, probably, but it's true. My sister is pregnant right now, due in July, and the baby is my niece, but I know I wouldn't mourn for her the way I would my nephew, as he has been someone I've held, laughed with, and gotten to know as a little person. If that makes any sense.
As for why they haven't delivered her, there could be many reasons. They could be waiting for her body to realize it and start the process itself. Rest assured that, if they see any medical issues, they will induce her.
My heart goes out to her and your family. It's never easy when these things happen. Some people choose to have a funeral, others choose a burial and some choose to have some sort of goodbye get together. IT really depends on what the parents choose. I am so sorry.
If she was already going to have a c-section or cannot bring herself to go through the whole labor process she will be given a c-section (which has to be scheduled). It's not easy but that was an option she wanted. - 9 months ago
