I have a boyfriend who I thought was perfect. Although I left the country for 6 months and while away he fooled around with my best friend numerous times.
He made a huge effort to get my forgiveness, so I did forgive him and then it happened again and this time they had sex. Now I have cut him off completely from my life, but still he texts me 10 times a day saying how much he loves me and sends letters. Should I talk to him and work it out? It has been months since it happened and he is still trying to talk to me.

Update: Thank you for your advice. I didn't add something which I think is important. My "best friend" who has also hooked up with another boyfriend of mine in the past, I forgave, I don't even know why I did. And she doesn't even appreciate it. And I know he would.    4 months ago

As much as I feel bad for you, this is also a repercussion of you letting people walk over you.

This isn't about just people cheating and you slapping them on the wrist afterwards. Why do you keep these types of people around you? If you use the "I've known her for so long or they are my only friends," those aren't enough to hold your trust.

Start re-evaluating what constitutes a good friend.

Your boyfriend definitely has self control issues that he needs to work on before you enter into another relationship with him again, he has hurt you and violated your trust as a result you lost a best friend and a boyfriend so what's next, its up to you play your cards wisely.

"Do it once, shame on you. Do it twice, shame on me. " Do you -really- need any more clues? He's cheated on you not only -once- but TWICE! If he's Bug-a-booing you to death then he's really not worth it. You could give that chance to a better guy and you might want to talk to your "best friend" while you're at it. Best friends respect one another's feelings, and no matter how badly she would've wanted your boyfriend, she shouldn't have slept with him out of general consideration of YOUR feelings. I'm with That-Guy on this one.

You've got to be stupid to get back with him.

Look I understand it's tough because you've had a history but he committed a crime that deserves the death penalty in the world of monogamous relationships.

What happens if the rules are "If you lie, you don't get to eat desert," but no one follows through with the punishment in which the liar still receives desert? The rule breaker will continue to refuse to abide by the rules governing the social rules constructed in our culture regarding monogamous relationships.

Guy = douche.
Best friend = skank.

I have two female friends who's boyfriends cheated on them in the past. Both are long distance relationships. Those two girls forgave them and have been happy since. I'm glad they are happy because there my closest friends but I don't trust the guys they are with because of what they did and afraid there is a closet full of skeletons. Anyways, if you have to change your number or block his(if you can do that) do so. He didn't learn from his first mistake and doesn't deserve a third chance. If he loved you he wouldn't have cheated. Send the letters back. Don't throw them away.

Don't walk away from him. Run! You forgave him once! Ok! Twice and it will show him this is acceptable behavior! And you will always forgive him.

If you think He's worth It I say take him back, but only when you know he is deeply sorry and will NEVER do it again. I know how he feels because I went through it.

Yes, definitely

No, it's just too difficult

Only if they trust each other fully

Yes, but they need to see each other every weekend

No, because people can lie and cheat no matter the circumstances

What pickup lines do you use to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to?
I don't use pickup lines, I just be me and talk to them like I would to any other person. If things lead somewhere they simply do, if they don't, well that's cool too.

How do they typically respond?
Surprised !

That a guy can talk to a girl just for the heck of talking to them without having a hidden agenda

Do I have the right approach?
