Why do people get so serious before they are married?

Frankly, I'd be a little worried if they weren't. Marriage is not something to be taken lightly, nor is the commitment that is required. There are also many things to be taken care of or details to be thought out such as new living arrangements, or when to start having kids, or anything that hasn't been discussed up until they were engaged. Many people (not enough by my opinion) want to wait for marriage for sex, so that also means that there will have to be several heart to heart discussions about everything that's happened in the past.

So they see what it will be like after marriage

Because marriage is a HUGE deal. You are not only commiting yourself to a person but you are also sharing everything. It's a big decision and shouldn't be played with therefore you must be serious about it because in the end if you weren't you will have screwed yourself over big time.

Thats a good question. I want to know that myself. I thought you're supposed to not have sex before marriage. But now I see so many people (young teenagers) doing it.

- They see sex as an act - no more, no less.
- Or, they think that they may lose their significant other if they don't have sex with them.
- Or, they feel that they will be with that person forever, so they don't see the harm in having sex with that person. After all, if they're going to marry them, why does it matter if they have sex now or later? Especially with birth control so readily available.

There are many reasons why some people think sex is okay before marraige. To name a few, sex is an important part of any relationship so testing this area prior long-term commitment is a way to help ensure you are both compatible in the bedroom. It is very difficult not to have sex due to hormones, lust, etc. And some people think that times have changed since the bible (or any holy book) was written and no longer applies to today's rules.

Bottom line, you have to make your own decisions despite what other people think, say or do. There are also reasons against having sex such as diseases, getting used just for sex and other heart breaking consequences.

Do what feels right and makes sense to you and let others do the same.

The only reason it's wrong is, if you you are devoted to your religion.
