How do you break up with a guy amicably?

I don't think you can, unless both of you are feeling the same way and are on the exact same page.

Forget the we can still be friends part. If that happens naturally then fine, but don't give him the old let's be friends line.

For someone to get over a break-up they need to cut that person completely out of their life and get rid of any reminders. After some time passes, the hurt will go away. Since you're the person doing the breaking up, it will be easier on you. And yes, his friends will probably stop talking to you because they are his friends. You're just going to have to accept that and not take it personally.

As for the actual break-up, just spit it out. It's not easy to do and there is no best way. Whatever you do, just be truthful. It will still be hurtful but you will feel better about yourself and he will eventually appreciate the honesty.

If you brake up with him your friends probably won't stop talking to you. It might be odd for a couple of months before you guys start talking again but if you guys have been serious then you should probably brake it off easy. Hey if you guys weren't meant to be together than it just wasn't meant to be, and yes I know you probably are feeling awful even thinking about it but that's only natural. Best of luck.
