I told a really good friend of mine that I had a crush on him, and he was flattered. He hasn't been in a relationship with anyone for at least 6 months but still has feelings for this girl, and he said that he can't get into a relationship. Right now. Does the "right now" mean anything, or am I reading too far into it. Also, he kept apologizing telling me he knows how hard it is to get the courage to tell someone how you really feel, and I said as long as he was being honest with me, and not leading me on, and telling me straight up that he wasn't interested, and as long as we remain friends, I'm good, then he said "it's not that I'm not interested, I just can't get into a relationship right now. " again am I reading too far into that? All my friends keep trying to get my hopes up, because I like this guy a lot! But he is a friend, and I don't want to get my hopes up if there is no chance. Should I just wait till he is over this girl, or should I just give up and find someone new? HELP! :)
There could be two reason why he said that, 1) like he said he still have strong feelings for his ex girlfriend, he need to get over her before he can actually open up and date you or else even if he dated you his heart will still be with the old girlfriend. 2) He don't want to hurt you, so he said a maybe kind of way but really it's a no(I've been there, and its very hard to face it when your hope is at the highest point then and suddenly crushed down to bottom when you hear the truth) but he said "its not I'm not interest" this line can mean a lot and possible not reason number 2, best way I think its to help him get over his ex if possible, that way he will then truly take you as more then a friend
Ok, so how do you get a guy over his ex? I don't want to push him to get over her, but at the same time I like this guy a lot, and hate seeing him sad, and just want to be with him. But I know if I push too hard, I will push him away. What should I do/say to him. I can't tell him to get over her, because everyone knows he blew it with her, because that would look like I'm a crazy jealous person. Any advice is welcome? Sorry I'm not sure on how someone else can get a guy get over his ex since getting over someone is a self emotional thing, I think usually to get over someone takes time, he can surely force himself to lose interest in his ex by not seeing her, talking to her, going places that reminds him of her, until then I don't think its a good idea to date him, since his heart will still be with his ex. - 2 days ago

Not much you can do about it since you told him you like him, maybe support him and show him you care about him more then anyone else, maybe slowly he will realize you are better then his ex and will give up on his ex. - 2 days ago
