Hey Y'all! So I was listening to this person speaking at a church couple weeks ago and she talked about a problem she had growing up. I just can't remember the word that she mentioned for her situation and its bothering me right now! It starts with, self-. I'm pretty sure is not self-conscious. Anyway, she was very "self-____" when she was a young woman, she needed that security of having a guy at all times. Something like that. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

The only thing that i can think of that has "self-" is self-esteem. I don't know if that is what you're talking about and I doubt it is.

I want to say she wasn't very self-sustaining because she was co-dependent on other guys she was around.

Self sustaining: maintaining or able to maintain oneself or itself by independent effort

What pickup lines do you use to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to?
Depending on the setting: Start talking about something relevant to where we are, then ask about herself then talk about me a little bit, make a joke, then ask her to go somewhere like Starbucks. If all goes well perhaps ask her out on a date (If all goes reeeally well!!! - I'm a bit shy )

How do they typically respond?
50/50 sometimes good, sometimes bad. Although sometimes they think I'm just being friendly...how do I fix that...

Do I have the right approach?
