There is this guy that I really like and he is in Iraq right now! We first met like a year and a half ago and we really hit it off! But the problem is he would always call me and wouldn't give me his number or tell me to much about himself! When we saw each other it was always on his time and what was good for him! So after a while we stopped talking. We started talking right before he went to Iraq and now that he is there he tells me when he comes home that he wants to date me and be with me and he was sorry for messing things up with me before. He wishes he had not have done that! But now he wants me to wait for him to come back and in the mean time not go out with any other guys and wait for him he is not coming back for another five months! What should I do? I really like him and I think he would be worth waiting for if I was sure that he has changed but I'm not sure if everything he says is for real so am I just wasting my time waiting for him or what?
Yes, you are wasting your time. He is far away and you may be one of the few connections he has now. He needs assurance, feel for need and is far more emotional that he could ever be. Once he is back, you will be together for a while but then he will get back to his real senses and will start treating you like he did before. You can still support him while he is there but also make him understand that you have moved on so he won't be heartbroken when he gets back.
I agree with him. Tell him you want just friendship while he's over there and TELL HIM WHY. He'll take it good (which means he probably has changed) or bad (he hasn't). Don't let a man control you or tie you down, you are your own person and maybe, JUST MAYBE, he doesn't deserve a girl like you.
