I have this girl at my school, we've known each other for a long time. I've liked her all the time and now I finally told her. We talk a lot on IM, when we talk in person she smiles and laughs at things I say or do. Is it because she likes me or is she just being nice? She also told me that I have a way of making her feel better when she's down. I want to ask her out but I don't want to ruin our friendship if I'm wrong.
Update: If you didn't read in the question she knows how much I care for her. Its just I don't know if she has the same feelings for me in return. She does do all the laughing and smiling stuff when she talks to me so its a good sign.

Update: Oh I forgot to mention that this girl loves attention, I mean loves it. So it kinda makes me hesitant on asking her out because each time I talk to her she acts differently, but mostly its the smiles and laughs though.

Hey go for it, it's not like she's gonna forget about you and drop you dead on the floor. If she likes you, from the way that it looks in this, I'd say that you've got a good chance. You don't know absolutely a thing until you ask her. Just go for it or else you'll lose her.
Ok ask her out this do signs do sound to me that she wants to go out with you. So go for it don't let a girl go just like that get away from your heart. When you have a chance ask her out and if she says then tell her you would still like to have a good friendship with her alright.
You better make your feelings know soon, if not she will put you in the just friends column, once you are in that column it is almost impossible for a girl to see you as relationship material!
