Do you ever think about a past ex and think they were the one that you let go of and that they were or might have been "The One"? If so, did you try to get them back?? Were you successful? And what did you do?
Well, until I met my present girlfriend, I'd often thought about a girl I used to work with in PA. Her name was Patricia (Pat). I haven't seen her in many years. We were very close then when we worked together, but never actually established a serious relationship, although it easily could have happened. We hung out alot, and spent a lot of time together. The big reason we didn't get serious was that we always were in the friend zone. When she was free, I wasn't, and vice-versa. I came close to making love with her more than once. We fooled around, but never had sex! She actually came to my ex and my wedding. I remember talking to her at the reception, and after a while, her telling me "well, you better get back...you have someone else to love and care for, now!"
Oh, what might have been! Especially since my marriage to my ex, didn't last!
Sure, I think about old flames from time to time. Usually brings a smile to my face too, but I'm always remembering the good times we had together. Get them back?....Nah, all I have to do is think about why we went our separate ways and that ends it....they're exes for a reason.
Your question reminds me of women (or guys) not being satisfied with what they have so they keep looking.....then lament what they left.

I did. She made up her mind and got rid of me the day before Valentine's Day. I was planning on marrying her. Now that it's been a month since then, I feel like I was still supposed to be with her. As I am told, that feeling will go away with time - I hope. But what do I know, I'm Just A Random Guy.
With myself, me being 21, I'm not really sure, yeah I've tried to get back with an ex before but it either didn't feel right or she didn't want to, so really no, I have yet to think someone is "The One" and I'm still waiting for that person to step into my life and I can't wait, I really hope it's something magical.
