I used to when I was younger. But he slowly began to treat me how he treated my older brother before he was kicked out (my bro). And I finally understood everything my brother had ever complained about. And now I feel so sorry for him.
Dads suck. They don't realise the smallest comments can make a BIG impact. My dad is so up himself. He lets the power get to his head and then takes control of my life and we end up fighting. 15 minutes later he's acting like nothing ever happened and expects it to be okay.
My father and I don't speak. We've never had a relationship, and probably never will. My only memories of him are waking up at 4 A.M. to hear him yelling at my mom and of the custody battle in which he swore he was a model father & husband, when really he was & still is just an abusive jerk.
Awwww,,, I am so sorry to hear about your "father:" is like this,,,, Now this must teach you a lesson when you decide to have children,,,right? - 3 months ago

Without a doubt, I'm very conscious of any kind of violent tendency in a guy. Maybe I'm wiser because of the father I was unfortunate to have had. - 3 months ago

Long story short, my Dad did a fair share of my upbringing and he's my go-to-guy when life gets rough. We have a lot of things in common and when ever I come to him for advice he never forces his opinion on me; forever a fantastic listener and constructive thinker who helps me come up with my own answer. He supports me, loves me, and is my hero through and through. - 3 months ago
Question Asker
Awesome answer.... my mother treated me exactly the same,,, I just hope I can put that kind of upbringing to a my child whenever that will be.... - 3 months ago
mine is overprotective and he's not often here with us but he's really overprotective if a guy talks to me lol still! anyways, I get along better with him for some reason ...
Yes I do, My dad and I get along very well and we are a lot a like. My father taught me a lot growing up and I would never change the relationship we have together. Even though we don't have a lot in common we make a point to do the things we do enjoy, I go to concerts, dinner or have a few drinks with my family and friends around. I feel bad now that I know there are 38% of the people who are not close with their fathers, this will help me appreciate my relationship more. Sorry for the people who have had a hard time with their family :(
I'm currently trying to get on better terms I just hope it's not to late. He was abusive when I was younger but I figure I can't hold that against him forever since I understand he was abusive because he and my mom had me way to young and didn't know how to cope with it and it was the way he was raised.
No I am not. We hate eachother. Avoid each other as much as possible. Some people say my "daddy issues" are the reason I am the way I am with relationships. I like having domestic discipline. I call my boyfriend Daddy and he spanks me,puts me in the corner, takes away privlages, that kind of stuff when I break the rules he gives me. They also say that's why I "sleep around" at a young age. But they are wrong.
My last serious Girlfriend had a life like yours. she had "issues" with men in general because of the abuse she had gotten from her father and grandfather. it's sad but I believe now if someone comes from a broken past that means internally they are broken. do you agree with me? - 4 months ago
Answerer
In a way yes. I always wanted to be just a daddys girl ya know? But he wouldn't allow that. I do have issues with men. My dad,My uncle who raped me,multiple times where guys (at the end admitted it) used me for sex. And some days its all I think about. - 4 months ago

NO my dad doesn't do all that lol. That's what I like for guys to do to me. My dad just gets drunk and yells and throws punches and controls me and says I'm a nig*** loving wh*re and told me I'd be pregnant by 14 and stuff. - A month ago
nope my dad only see's me when IM the one who goes to see him 2 hrs away, he doesn't make an effort to even come see me. its sad. scars us for life in some ways we proably don't know about
lol my dad and I have our ups and downs, but overall we're pretty tight.
Although growing up I never really saw my dad because our family was this close to being broke so he had no choice but to travel for work in order to make money. Yup, looking back it was actually really rough not having a dad and that genuinely caused other problems, but it's good to have him back now and not having to worry about the amount of money we spend lol.
So was mine growing up... my dad worked his tail off for us.... since my mom passed away 05 31 2002 and he is retired I guess the time he was not around me growing up is happening right now... I guess everything happens for a reason... - 4 months ago
is the sky green ? really though, he's been outta my life for a long time only popping up every blue moon... then getting upset over something small/stupid. at that point he leaves again.
Awesome,,,,,, I am happy you have a great relationship with your dad... buttt.... I am just curious since its great with him,,, is it the same with your mom? - 4 months ago
Answerer
My mom and I have differing views on several things, just as she and my dad disagree we do also. But all and all we get along majority of the time. - 4 months ago

I have a pretty close relationship with my father, I'm not spoiled or anything but he understands me whenever I have problems with friends or at work or so I go and tell him. I don't tell him about all guys I date because he's protective but I do tell him about serious guys !
Yeah :) My dad lives in Glasgow so I don't see him loads but I still talk to him on the phone. I love my dad :) My mum never stopped me from seeing him after they divorced so I am grateful :)
Lol you are so funny I am still laughing! thank you friend... how was your day today? to answer your question,,, my name came from my exgirlfriend long time ago and BTW she was 13 years older than me... so actually they are BIG girl with deceased father.... close,,,, oh that was my longest relationship to date of 7 years! - 4 months ago
my mother and father divorced when I was a baby, their relationship was over before I was born. but my step father came into the picture shortly after and has been around since. so I definitely did NOT go with out a father... it just wasn't my biological father.
Oh,,, have you ever wanted to get contact with your biological father? - 4 months ago
Answerer
I know my biological father, when I was a kid he came to visit a few times a year, then when I was a teenager it was like once a year, then he stopped, blamed us not seeing each other on me, and now I havnt seen him in about 6 years... it doesn't phase me any though, cause like I said, I have my step dad, and he has spoiled me rotten and completely taken care of me. he will most definitely be the one walking me down the aisle... my biological father will merely be invited - 4 months ago
