Okay Me and my ex broke up about 3 years ago. We have stayed friends since then. He has been dating a girl for about 6 months now and I have just recently found out he and her don't have the closest relationship. We Met up for a few drinks last night and he told me I was his first love. I told him he was mine too because he was I couldn't lie. I mainly gave him advice on how to make things better with his girlfriend most of the night. But as the night ended he started getting quiet and acting a bit odd. He text me and told me he had a good time and missed me. Then asked me if I would go back out with him if he broke up with his girlfriend. I text him back and told him I am not going to be a rebound girl. I told him if he was unhappy with her he should break up with her irregardless of what I do or if I go back with him.
I still care for him but I don't ever see myself w/him again. We are different people but get along well. We laugh and are very comfortable around each other. He has text me a good bit today and I know he still cares but How do I remain friends with him but let him down easy because I care about his feelings.
Well I think that you should just tell him how you feel. I know your scared to hurt him but in the long run if he really loves you he will understand and if he still wants you around that he should except being friends with you. Honesty is always the best way to go.
