We were friends when we were in Jr . High, never close but we'd walk home together every day, and freshman year I'd eat with him and his buddies at lunch - we weren't alone together often but when we were it was fine - I fell off the map for him for a little over a year but when we ran in to each other again and sort of reconnected- just by giving each other our numbers and having quick chats -I realized how much I'd missed my pal - OKAY, so, that being said
when we were freshman he made the comment to me that at one point, in Jr . High, he'd thought I "liked" him but that he'd eventually realized that my friendly, talkative personality was just the way I was with everyone
he was right, I'd never "liked" him
if he'd never said that, I never would have known he'd had that suspicion AND I probably wouldn't be as insecure as I am around him now
despite the fact that whenever I drop by to say hey, if I happen to be in the shopping strip he works in, he gives me a hug and he's friendly, I get the feeling that he thinks I like him and it makes him uncomfortable
WHAT THE HELL DO I DO ? We're not close but I'd really like to have my friend back . I should probably just let go- its been around two years since we started saying hey now and then and he's never shown any REAL interest in being "hang out" friends . Someone tell me to get over it and leave him in the dust if that's what I should !

You seem to really want this friendship back so make a move. Ask him to hang out with you some time, make time for him, visit him more often. Do all of these things but continue to be yourself, your friendly talkative self. You just want his friendship, nothing more so let him know, walk with him sometime and just say dude lets be friends again!. That seems to easy though. Ultimately you are the judge of the situation and you know him best so test the waters and if you deem it safe. Take the plunge and hopefully you can get your friend back! I hope things work out.
