I've only been in one long-term relationship (9 mths is long-term to me) and I cut it off by ignoring her phone calls till she stopped calling me. But I was 19 then, I would most surely talk it out now.
If I were to date a girl for nine months, I would be serious about it. So of course I would be wondering why she'd back off and fight for it and try if it's some minor thing I could change easily or if it just doesn't work out.
There would be no meaning for me to continue chasing her if she discovered something on me she just couldn't stand to be with. Some things are only discovered after quite some time, though of course I wouldn't see THAT if I were in the actual situation itself.
I would just be wondering why the hell she's leaving me after 9 months, why did she 'play' with me for so long... that's what I'd be thinking in that situation even though I can actually understand her, as written in the above paragraph ;-)
