I've been friends with one of my guy friends for almost eleven years.Over the past three years,we've become best friends.I've grown to like him the past year though I'm not sure if he likes me back.We very rarely hang out with anyone else when we are together.Recently he insists on paying for everything when we go out.He pays attention to just me even when there was another girl in the room that he's friends with.He mentioned how much fun he has with me when we hang out.He's always eager to hang out with me.It seems like he likes me but I don't know whether to ask him or not...He's never made a move on me,but that doesn't surprise me because he is always respectful. I'm worried that I am stuck in the "friend zone" because of how long we have been friends plus I am close to his mom.

I could see it being awkward afterwards if he said no, but should stop you from asking him? You've been friends for so long I don't think things would remain awkward for very long. He's got a "grove" with you, sort of speak, and after some time he will fall right back into it. However you know him much better then I do, how do you think he is will respond if the feeling isn't mutual? Think logically and try to remove your emotions from the equation.
