My man is very down on himself, then sometimes, in our relationship he tries to be uber dominant. All the women in his past have hurt him, me included. Is this something he'll get over, and if so, how? Or is he officially a woman hater for life?
As he has been hurt in the past, it is of utmost importance that he is able to trust you. It will most likely take some time, but if you're willing to invest your time and effort into your relationship, I'm sure you'll help him to at least lessen the hurt he's experienced in the past.
