So there's this totally hot guy I like and he knows it, I don't know how much more obvious I could be. But anyway, my friends were trying to hook me up with him and he told my best friend that he just broke up with his girlfriend of 2 1/2 years and he isn't looking for a relationship. So what should I do? Lost cause? Is there any hope at all?

Update: So I was thinking maybe just trying to be friends...just talking and hanging out maybe. Would that be too much or would it be better to just stay clear? Does him telling me he's not looking for a relationship mean he doesn't like me or wanna even talk?    19 days ago

Not so much a lost cause, but if you were to get into a relation with him now you could end up hurt. Mainly that he is still probably thinking about her and his body may be with you but half of his mind would be on her. Id wait until he is fully ready to start dating again before hand, its never fair to the other person when you yourself are still hung up on your ex.

But yes, there is a chance, but some guys can take months to get over a person.

Answerer If he's not looking for a relation at the moment, it means he's honest enough to not date a girl while still hooked on his ex. You can be friends with him and chat though. - 19 days ago

If he isn't saying a loud and resounding "yes!", he's rejecting you. Being on hold is the same as saying "thanks, but I'm going to take a look around and check out the other offers". Wouldn't you consider that a no?

Drop him like a bad habit. Twisted relationships like that are toxic, and it will skew your views of having a healthy and meaningful relationship with a man. If he's meant to be, he'll wise up and start coming around.

Trust me, so many of us have been in your shoes, and we made it out alive... and found happy, healthy relationships with men that DID want them, and were able to ask for it. :)

being put on hold IS rejection. for whatever reason, this guy is not looking for a relationship and that seems to be what you want. time waits for no man and neither should you. move on, he can't give you what you want so don't sit around waiting hoping he'll eventually see. situations like that rarely work out the way you want them. be glad he was up front with you and move on. it is not a guarantee he will get over her and who has time to wait? he isn't the only guy in the world
