Why is it when you tell a girl something about yourself she thinks that maybe you're lying or you're a freak?

I always like to act like even the most boring things are a mystery, like if she asks "have you ever been arrested?" even if you haven't you can say "yeah maybe once" then she will be like "what for?" and you can reply "oh it wasn't that big, its boring. so have you ever been arrested?" Girls love it when you ask them questions so they can "impress" you rather than you try to impress them, they probably already are impressed with you if you don't act like a typical guy.

Maybe because you gave them TOO MUCH information in the beginning, when you barely even know each other. >_>

The easy way to do it, is ask her about herself, then you say things that have happened to you that are similar to her own experiences, this way you are sharing common things and will be more comfortable with each other, and able to share things with each other. This is the only thing I was ever great at, getting girls to trust that I'm understanding and truthful, some girls are harder to convince. So long as you are genuine you should be alright.

girls don't like when guys open up right away, give it time and don't just throw your feelings all over her, she will get weird ed out and not want to see you again. flirt with her, play around with her, don't ask personal questions and don't answer personal questions... just keep it casual

There is always an equal half to use out there, its what I have always believed. However, its possible that some of the girls you have tried talking to find an aspect of yourself not to their liking. I'm not going to ask what trait but if you have anything slightly odd, perhaps let them know about that a little later into the relation, Assuming its one of the small things that can actually wait.
