What's it mean when a guy tells you he loves you very much but says things that hurt?

For example he said a few weeks ago that he has no hope in the relationship and just last night he said that when he looks at other hot women he imagines(and he had detail) himself doing them. So what does it mean? How should I take it. He said he would never do it.

Update: additional info: We have been dating for a year now and we have been having sex. And as far as I know its only been porn. And of course he likes to stare at women. But he only wants sex a few times a week.    18 days ago

First of all I wouldn't simply trust his words.
People can say a lot of things out loud pretty fast, but eventually their meaning behind it isn't even close as strong as the words they reflect... As with love, always take people by their action, as this is the only thing that really matters. And the phrase "i love you" isn't something that should be said early on in a relationship, as in fact the immense meaning behind those words can't be true when knowing some other for only like a few weeks.

Saying to a girl - whom supposedly he loves - that he's imagining doing it with other girls... to me the sole reason for this is to put pressure on yourself to 'finally' have sex with him. I just can't see any other reason :ß

When gauging whether someone loves you do not take them on their word but rather on their actions. If what he does contradicts what he says, which do you think is true?

If I was with a guy like that I would dump him as soon as he said those things to me. But you know everyone's different, every girl would deal with it differently I guess. Anyways, yeah, I would just dump him especially after saying he has no hop in the relationship. I totally agree with germanotaku actions speaks louder that words. Besides if he really do love you I don't think he would be saying stuff like that to you.
