My boyfriend & I have been dating for almost 4 months now. He still lives in my hometown and goes to community college. I am a freshman at CalPoly San Luis Obispo college. It is approximately 2 hour drive between home & here.
We are very much in love & he treats me very well. So far we have a perfect relationship! We hardly ever argue and when we do, we are great at communicating and working it out. We see each other on the weekends every now and then.

My question is, should we break up & should I experience college dating? I just want to be sure that he is the one, if I'm going to invest all of this time & energy into a long distance relationship through the most important 4 years of my life. My parents want me to find someone [here] that is more on my same intellectual & financial level. My boyfriend isn't quite sure what he wants to do as a career but he's pretty set on a park ranger/law enforcement. And I know that would be somewhat of a tough life...So I just am not sure if I should keep going on with this or not! I'm probably worrying too much.

Hey, I think you should just stick with him if your relationship have been great and since you guys both love eachother. I think as long as a couple love each other and trust each other etc, you should stick together. But if it's too much you could take a break? umm also, Do you want to give up your relationship with him because of what your parents said? I'm sure they want what's best for you, but if you love him as much as you say you do, you wouldn't leave him just because someone else wants you to. Personally, I've found the guy I want to spend the rest of my life with and he wants to spend the rest of his life with me as well and neither of us would give up our relationship just because we want to experience college dating, But if that's what you want then talk to you boyfriend about it. Also, I'm not sure what I want to do as a career either but my boyfriend doesn't complain. Eventually he will make up his mind on what he wants to do. I'm sure either you or your boyfriend or both drives. As long as you drive it shouldn't really be as much big of a problem. You should be happy, I would know because I wish I would of gone for my license since I was 16 because I don't drive and neither does my boyfriend. We have to depend on friends to see each other and have to give gas money.Anyways sorry this is long hope I helped :)

Question Asker Yeah I think I will stick with him. And he is understanding enough that he has offered, if I want to, to take a break for the rest of the schoolyear & then get back together in the summer or something like that. Maybe I'll do that sometime but right now I'm not ready to let him go for any time period! haha. As far as what my parents say, it is important to me what they think...But I don't let them make any decisions for me. I'll still love who I want! thank you for the response! it was helpful :] - 18 days ago
Question Asker P.s. I guess what I'm mainly worried about is sticking with it all 4 years & marrying him, & if he does go into law enforcement & becomes a cop...I heard it sucks being the wife of a cop. because they have crazy shifts & you don't kno if theyll be home for dinner or not...you have to celebrate xmas a week later when they get some time off..the children grow up w/o a father around the house...& ur always worried about them gettin killed (shot, whatever)...theres a high divorce rate for marriages with cops - 18 days ago
Answerer Your welcome :) . I guess we're both kind of in the same thing. My boyfriend wants to be a cop too, either that or somethign else forgot what he said it was lol. But I'm also worried about those things you're worried about.Anyways, that decision is up to you if you would still want to be with him if he does that.Maybe you could ask him if there's something else he's interested in doing because you're worried about those things and tell him what you're worried about. Maybe he will think about it. - 18 days ago
