Is this even a little strange?

Some guys are completely clueless as to what gift to give a girlfriend.

This perfectly highlights what I hate about people's birthdays and Christmas these days. Don't get me wrong. I like giving people gifts. I enjoy it. What I don't enjoy is that people _expect_ gifts like it's something they're entitled to by virtue of acquaintance. And then they're disappointed if the gift isn't 'good enough'. Some nerve.

SOCKS? wtf were they your basic Hanes white socks or pretty socks? If they are pretty socks then I wouldn't worry about it but if they are like those kind that come in the 6 pack we would have some problems.

Try to recall if you ever complained about your floor being too cold or your toes always being cold. I'd bet there is much more to this gift than you'd think at first glance. ;)

I agree with the two guys who have already commented (Cartiphilus and armyant). Relax! I love luxury socks, so there are some women who would be OK with getting socks!

The poor guy probably just had no idea what to get. He might have agonized over it for days. I have a lot of male friends who buy their women lame gifts in the end, but are afraid to be more adventurous in case of being thought too weird or too over-the-top.

Or he might not think birthdays are so important. As long as he treats you well the rest of the time and does not forget your birthday, I wouldn't be so concerned.
