I've found that talking it out is the best thing to do. Remember the things you used to do together to get better acquainted. If you can keep in mind that men NEED to feel respected and have a since of pride then you will keep him build up just like it is that women need to feel cherished and secure. Men tend to forget that part of building security in a women is not material things at all. Building her sense of emotional security would be worth his weight in gold! Perhaps pick up a book that you both can read together that would create stimulating conversations or pick up a new hobby where you both need to learn something together. Good luck. I think he is just taking your relationship for granted cause you've been together for so long. It's become a habit for him. Distance yourself a little bit. Give him some space.
